Toughining of Epoxy-Resins Using Thermoplastic Materials as Modifiers

open access: yesIbn Al-Haitham Journal for Pure and Applied Sciences, 2019
Epoxy resins were modified using thermoplastics, such as polystyrene and poly (methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) or their monomers polymerized in situe. The modifications showed good results specially when (PMMA) was used.

Thermo-mechanical properties improvement of asphalt binder by using methylmethacrylate/ethylene glycol dimethacrylate

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Petroleum, 2016
Various polymer-modified asphalt compositions for paving and roofing applications are known since several years ago. The degree to which a polymer improves the asphalt’s properties depends on the compatibility of the polymer and the asphalt.

Research Update: Preserving the photoluminescence efficiency of near infrared emitting nanocrystals when embedded in a polymer matrix

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2016
Near infrared light emitting nanocrystals are known to lose efficiency when embedded in a polymer matrix. One of the factors leading to reduced efficiency is the labile nature of the ligands that may desorb off the nanocrystal surface when the ...
