, 2014 In this work, after recalling some elementary facts from measure and probability theory, we have defined coupling and presented basic theorems of coupling. Developed theory of coupling has been applied to Markov chains and random walks, in particular Ornstein coupling and Poisson approximation by using Stein-Chen method.
