Length of prematurity period in wheat cultivars determines maximum cereal aphid abundance

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2016
Maximum aphid numbers on wheat are positively related to the length of the period elapsed from immigration to the population peak. We predicted that maximum abundances on late maturing cultivars would be greater than on early ones.

Mean temperature of dropping behaviour (°C) ± 95% confidence intervals for non-parasitized adults and adults parasitized by Aphidius avenae of the aphids Sitobion avenae and Metopolophium dirhodum acclimated at 20°C.

open access: yes, 2016
These aphids represent the same test individuals as indicated by the dark grey bar in Fig 1. (Notations are as follows: Sa = Sitobion avenae, Md = Metopolophium dirhodum, P = aphids parasitized by Aphidius avenae, NP = non-parasitized aphids) (Sa-NP n ...

The Process of Aphid Egg-Laying and the Little Known Role of the Coccinellidae in Aphid Egg Destruction in Poland – Preliminary Results

open access: yesJournal of Plant Protection Research, 2014
No detailed studies have been conducted in Poland with regard to aphid eggs or egg survival in particular. So far, no studies have been conducted concerning the role of ladybird beetles in reducing the number of aphid eggs in spring, before the ...

Natural biological control of aphids (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in a wheat field by parasitoids (Hymenoptera, Aphidiinae) in Medianeira, PR, Brazil/
Controle biológico natural de pulgões (Hemiptera: Aphididae) em lavoura de trigo por parasitóides (Hymenoptera, Aphidiinae), no município de Medianeira, PR, Brasil

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2005
Aphids constitute one of the main phytosanitary problems in wheat crops in southern Brazil, and are the target of a biological control program with parasitoids implemented in Brazil since the 1970’s.

Release of Aphidius rhopalosiphi (Hymenoptera: Aphidiinae) for cereal aphid control: field cage experiments

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2000
The potential of the parasitoid Aphidius rhopalosiphi for controlling cereal aphids was tested in 16 m2 field cage experiments in 1998 and 1999. In the first year, aphids and parasitoids were released in cages containing naturally occurring populations ...

Rapid Responses of Winter Aphid-Parasitoid Communities to Climate Warming

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2018
Consequences of inter-annual environmental fluctuations, including those associated with climate change, can have a knock-on effect from individual to community scale.

Plant oxidative status under ozone pollution as predictor for aphid population growth: The case of Metopolophium dirhodum (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in Triticum aestivum (Poales: Poaceae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Ozone is a secondary air pollutant that affects plants and animals through several physiological mechanisms that involve changes in redox status. However, the consequences of ozone pollution on aphids are not well understood.

REPORTE DOCUMENTADO DE Metopolophium dirhodum EN TRIGO EN EN YURIRIA, GUANAJUATO
