Release of Aphidius rhopalosiphi (Hymenoptera: Aphidiinae) for cereal aphid control: field cage experiments

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2000
The potential of the parasitoid Aphidius rhopalosiphi for controlling cereal aphids was tested in 16 m2 field cage experiments in 1998 and 1999. In the first year, aphids and parasitoids were released in cages containing naturally occurring populations ...

Analysis of the genetic diversity in Metopolophium dirhodum (Walker) (Hemiptera, Aphididae) by RAPD markers Análise da diversidade genética de Metopolophium dirhodum (Walker) (Hemiptera, Aphididae) por meio de marcadores RAPD

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Entomologia, 2007
The emergence of host-races within aphids may constitute an obstacle to pest management by means of plant resistance. There are examples of host-races within cereals aphids, but their occurrence in Rose Grain Aphid, Metopolophium dirhodum (Walker, 1849), has not been reported yet.

Molecular identification of the secondary endosymbiont Hamiltonella defensa in the rose-grain aphid Metopolophium dirhodum.

open access: yesRevista Argentina de microbiologia, 2013
This is the first report of the association between the rose-grain aphid Metopolophium dirhodum, a potentially important cereal pest and the facultative symbiont Hamiltonella defensa. The infection with this gamma-proteobacterium was determined by PCR in laboratory-reared and field-collected specimens of an Argentinian population of the aphid.
