Pediatrics, 1980
Because of the increasing international use of the SI system (International System of Units) in medicine, the Committee on Hospital Care has written this statement to familiarize pediatricians with this concept. The current state of the system, its derivation, purported advantages, and controversial aspects are described; and the Committee has made ...

Medicine, Metrication, and SI Units
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1980PUBLIC Law 94-168, the Metric Conversion Act of 1975, specifies that the transition to a metric system of measurements in the United States be a voluntary process rather than a conversion in a fixed period of time by government regulation. To assist voluntary conversion to the metric system of weights and measures, and in particular, to SI units ...

Metric dimension of unit graphs
Discrete Mathematics, Algorithms and ApplicationsThe notion of the metric dimension of a graph is well-known and its study is well entrenched in the literature. In this paper, we introduce new classes of graphs that exhibit remarkable characteristic: the metric dimension and the diameter of the unit graph are equal.

1999
It is customary in elementary particle physics and field theories to choose the system of units such that the resulting expressions assume a simple form. In particular, instead of working with the usual three mechanical units for length, mass and time one introduces three basic units for velocity, action and length.

Metrical Units and Sense-Units
1994Abstract My suggestion is that metrical structure can be semantically functional: in other words, that there are non-technical correlations between metre and semantics in Homer. When reciting a verse, a singer, or a rhapsode, or an actor may pause for a moment, then resume his words. How do we measure this? In microseconds?

The Metrical Units of Greek Lyric Verse. I
The Classical Quarterly, 1950What kind of Theory of Music and Theory of Metric was taught to the young Pindar or the young Sophocles? So far are we from an answer to this question that we do not even know how far extra study was necessary, or usual, for the professional poet as compared with the ordinary educated Greek citizen.
