The muscle RING finger (MuRF) family of proteins are E3 ubiquitin ligases that have previously been thought to be expressed only in striated muscle tissue. In this study, we showed that MuRF2 may weaken lipopolysaccharide‐induced macrophage activation by suppressing the production of proinflammatory cytokines and cell migration.

Vasogenic Cerebral Edema following CT Myelogram with Nonionic Omnipaque 300
Computed Tomography (CT) with myelogram is a relatively safe procedure. It requires the use of nonionic contrast agents which, unlike ionic contrast agents, have been associated with low complication rates. We report a case of a 69‐year‐old female who developed diffuse bilateral cerebral edema following a lumber myelogram with the use of intrathecal ...

CXCL4 Contributes to the Pathogenesis of Chronic Liver Allograft Dysfunction
Chronic liver allograft dysfunction (CLAD) remains the most common cause of patient morbidity and allograft loss in liver transplant patients. However, the pathogenesis of CLAD has not been completely elucidated. By establishing rat CLAD models, in this study, we identified the informative CLAD‐associated genes using isobaric tags for relative and ...

Diagnostic methods that focus on the extracellular vesicles (EVs) present in saliva have been attracting great attention because of their non‐invasiveness. EVs contain biomolecules such as proteins, messenger RNA (mRNA) and microRNA (miRNA), which originate from cells that release EVs, making them an ideal source for liquid biopsy.

Improved technique for cervical metrizamide myelography
Introduction of metrizamide into the lumbar subarachnoid space with the patient in a prone 15-20 degree head-down position improves delivery of contrast material for cervical myelography.

Lumbar myelogram utilizing nonionic contrast is a commonly performed procedure to identify spinal pathology. Complication rates are low. Cerebral edema has been shown to occur following intrathecal injection of ionic contrast; however, no current literature has documented this complication relating to the ubiquitously used nonionic contrast medium.

Proteomic Profiling of Mitochondrial Enzymes during Skeletal Muscle Aging
Mitochondria are of central importance for energy generation in skeletal muscles. Expression changes or functional alterations in mitochondrial enzymes play a key role during myogenesis, fibre maturation, and various neuromuscular pathologies, as well as natural fibre aging. Mass spectrometry‐based proteomics suggests itself as a convenient large‐scale

Activating AMPK improves pathological phenotypes due to mtDNA depletion
In a cellular model of mitochondrial disease characterized by progressive mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) depletion, we found that advancing mitochondrial dysfunction triggers the early and specific activation of the mitochondria‐associated pool of AMP‐activated protein kinase (AMPK), a master regulator of energy homeostasis.

Signal transduction pathways in mast cell granule‐mediated endothelial cell activation
Background: We have previously shown that incubation of human endothelial cells with mast cell granules results in potentiation of lipopolysaccharide‐induced production of interleukin‐6 and interleukin‐8. Aims: The objective of the present study was to identify candidate molecules and signal transduction pathways involved in the synergy between mast ...
