Rubber Impact on 3D Textile Composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A low velocity impact study of aircraft tire rubber on 3D textile-reinforced composite plates was performed experimentally and numerically. In contrast to regular unidirectional composite laminates, no delaminations occur in such a 3D textile composite ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Behaviour and design of composite beams subjected to negative bending and compression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper investigates the behaviour of steel–concrete composite beams subjected to the combined effectsof negative bending and axial compression. For this study, six full-scale tests were conducted on compositebeams subjected to negative moment while ...

Hybrid additive manufacturing of biocompatible Ti–Ta composite structures for biomedical applications

open access: yes, 2021
Rapid advances in 3D hybrid additive manufacturing have provided opportunities to the use of Ta as a highly effective biomaterial. In this study, we used electron beam melting (EBM) process to fabricate Ti–6Al–4V 3D structures (EBM-Ti64) and then applied

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

The influence of position in overlap joints of Mg and Al alloys on microstructure and hardness of laser welds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Structure and properties of laser beam welding zone of dissimilar materials, AZ31 magnesium alloy and A5754 Aluminum alloy, are investigated. The microstructure and quality of the Mg/Al weld were studied by metallography, microhardness and optical ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

The microstructures and mechanical properties of low-cost Ti particles reinforced AZ81 composites

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Compared to conventional ceramic particle-reinforced Mg composites, incorporating Ti particles into the Mg molten melt poses greater difficulty due to their significantly higher density compared to Mg.

BIOMIMETIC NANOCOMPOSITE STRUCTURES DESIGNED FOR COATING OF ORTHOPEDIC IMPLANTS: AFM INVESTIGATION

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai Chemia, 2021
Titanium implants are highly resistant to external forces and have affordable prices but the contact between Ti metal and surrounding native tissue could provoke an immunological response.
