Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Possibilities and Limitations of Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy of Mg and Mg Alloys [PDF]

open access: yesCorrosion, 2014
Magnesium (Mg) and its alloys undergo corrosion at high rates in aqueous electrolytes of essentially any concentration, releasing copious amounts of hydrogen (H2) into the electrolyte, thereby making conventional scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) measurements difficult upon Mg.

A model for the thermodynamics of and strengthening due to co-clusters in Al-Mg-Si based alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
An expanded model for the thermodynamics of co-clusters and their strengthening is presented, and the model is applied to predict co-cluster formation and strengthening in Al-Mg-Si alloys.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Corrosion behavior of friction stir welded AZ31B Mg alloy - Al6063 alloy joint

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2016
In the present work, AZ31B Mg alloy and Al6063 alloy-rolled sheets were successfully joined by friction stir welding. Microstructural studies revealed a sound joint with good mechanical mixing of both the alloys at the nugget zone.

Role of Al in the Solution Strengthening of Mg–Al Binary Alloys

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Mg–Al binary alloys in the concentration range from 0 to 4.0 wt.% Al have been prepared under conventional casting conditions. The as-cast Mg and Mg–Al alloys after solution treatment were processed via hot extrusion at 350 °C.
