TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Shear enhanced heterogeneous nucleation in some Mg- and Al- alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Intensive shearing was applied to alloy melts at temperatures above their liquidus by using a twinscrew mechanism. The sheared melt was then cast into a TP1 mould for microstructural examination.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Tensile properties of high strength cast Mg alloys at room temperature: A review [PDF]

open access: yesChina Foundry, 2014
As most Mg alloy products are now produced by a casting process, the development of high strength cast Mg alloys can promote their further applications and has already become one of the hot research areas of Mg alloys.

Microstructure and strength of metals processed by severe plastic deformation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The microstructure of f.c.c. metals (Al, Cu, Ni) and alloys (Al-Mg) processed by severe plastic deformation (SPD) methods is studied by X-ray diffraction line profile analysis.

A model for co-clusters and their strengthening in Al-Cu-Mg based alloys: a comparison with experimental data

open access: yes, 2012
A model for the thermodynamics of and strengthening due to Cu–Mg co-clusters in Al–Cu–Mg based alloys is analysed and tested. The formulation uses a single interaction enthalpy between dissimilar alloying elements (e.g.

Grain boundary segregation in UFG alloys processed by severe plastic deformation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Grain boundary segregations were investigated by Atom Probe Tomography in an Al-Mg alloy, a carbon steel and Armco\trademark Fe processed by severe plastic deformation (SPD).

Homologous expression and purification of human HAX‐1 for structural studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol provides detailed instructions for cloning, expressing, and purifying large quantities of the intrinsically disordered human HAX‐1 protein, N‐terminally fused to a cleavable superfolder GFP, from mammalian cells. HAX‐1 is predicted to undergo posttranslational modifications and to interact with membranes, various cellular ...

SmallTalk: a novel small‐sized fusion tag for peptide expression and purification

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The SmallTalk fusion tag allows for the efficient expression and purification of soluble recombinant proteins or peptides in Escherichia coli. Testing with SmallTalk‐GFP confirmed that the proteins were soluble and folded correctly, while SmallTalk‐Bin1b maintained its antimicrobial activity against various bacterial isolates. This streamlined workflow
