Versatile vector tools for efficient protein screening across multiple expression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A unified vector toolkit enables rapid protein expression screening across E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells. A single primer pair amplifies the target gene, which is inserted into any vector via a standardized interface. This streamlined workflow eliminates repeated cloning steps, accelerating the identification of optimal expression conditions for

Unveiling synergistic strength and plasticity enhancement of Mg–Zn–Mn alloy via closed forging extrusion

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
A cost-effective, high-performance Mg-2.0Zn-1.5Mn alloy was fabricated using closed forging extrusion (CFE). The results reveal that CFE can promote a dynamic recrystallization (DRX) ratio and enhance the residual dislocation density in deformed grains ...

PHASE DIAGRAMS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS TO Mg ALLOYS [PDF]

open access: yesTecnologia em Metalurgia Materiais e Mineração, 2016
This work summarizes the basics of phase diagrams and their relation to the Calphad method. It is emphasized that the benefits of quantitative prediction of phase formation of selected multicomponent alloys under equilibrium and special off-equilibrium processing conditions require the development of reliable and consistent thermodynamic descriptions ...

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

A Mg-In Alloy Interphase for Mg Dendrite Suppression

open access: yesJournal of The Electrochemical Society
Mg metal batteries have attracted much attention as an alternative to Li-ion technology due to the high abundance and volumetric capacity of Mg metal. Further, early reports show that Mg is less prone to dendritic growth compared to Li, thereby improving the safety and long-term reversibility of Mg metal anodes.

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the
