Citral condensation with acetone on Na–MgO and Li–MgO catalysts

open access: yesCatalysis Communications, 2006
Abstract The effect of the Na and Li addition to MgO on the pseudo-ionone production from citral and acetone condensation in liquid phase is reported. The Na addition improves the yield to pseudo-ionone (defined as mol of produced pseudo-ionone/mol of converted citral), reaching a value of 100%, while the Li addition has a poor effect.

Synthesis of MgO-coated corncob biochar and its application in lead stabilization in a soil washing residue.

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2019
In this study, a magnesium oxide (MgO) coated corncob biochar (MCB) was synthesized by pyrolyzing MgCl2 pretreated corncob, for a better performance in lead immobilization in a contaminated soil compared with corncob biochar (CB).

Impact of Pre‐Oxidation Treatments on a Recycled MgO/Steel‐Composite as Carbon Free Anode in Aluminum‐Electrolysis Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...

Crossover between ionic/covalent and pure ionic bonding in magnesium oxyde clusters

open access: yes, 2003
An empirical potential with fluctuating charges is proposed for modelling (MgO)_n clusters in both the molecular (small n) and bulk (n->infty) regimes. Vectorial polarization forces are explicitely taken into account in the self-consistent determination ...

Conformational effect of thiol-compounds on the formation of a nitrosyl(protoporphyrinato)iron(II) complex adsorbed on a basic oxide of magnesium oxide powder with the nitrite ion

open access: yesStudies in Science and Technology, 2019
It has investigated using a Clark-type oxygen electrode and an ESR method that the conformation of thiol-compounds such as cysteine (Cys) and glutathione (GSH) effects on the formation of a nitrosyl(protoporphyrinato)iron(II) complex by the reaction ...

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Microstructure Design of Steel‐Spinel Composites via Spark Plasma Sintering Process

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study illustrates how spark plasma sintering at reduced oxygen partial pressure enables controlled formation of steel‐spinel composites through tailored redox reactions and cation exchange. Comparison of the MgO–Fe2O3, steel–(MgO+Cr2O3), and steel–(MgO+Fe2O3) systems shows how oxygen activity and interface chemistry govern spinel formation, phase ...
