AbstractWe review the current status of research in MHD turbulence theory and numerical experiments and their applications to astrophysics and solar science. We introduce general tools for studying turbulence, basic turbulence models, MHD equations and their wave modes. Subsequently, we cover the theories and numerics of Alfvénic turbulence, imbalanced

Comprehensive, self-contained, and clearly written, this successor to Ideal Magnetohydrodynamics (1987) describes the macroscopic equilibrium and stability of high temperature plasmas - the basic fuel for the development of fusion power. Now fully updated, this book discusses the underlying physical assumptions for three basic MHD models: ideal ...

The MHD equations have served plasma physicists, space physicists and astrophysicists very well for the past several decades. Even so, one comes to the realization that the MHD equations are only an approximation that applies to systems where the collision rate between charged particles is fast enough to rapidly restore isotropy in the pressure tensor.
