Low-level sarin-induced alteration of immune system reaction in inbred BALB/c mice

Toxicology, 2003
To study the influence of low-level sarin inhalation exposure on immune functions, inbred BALB/c mice were exposed to low concentrations of sarin for 60 min in the inhalation chamber. Two concentrations of sarin were chosen-asymptomatic concentration (LEVEL 1) and non-convulsive symptomatic concentration (LEVEL 2).

Anti-tumor effect of C-phycocyanin from Anabaena sp.ISC55 in inbred BALB/c mice injected with 4T1 breast cancer cell

Comparative Clinical Pathology, 2016
This study investigated anti-tumor effect of C-phycocyanin from Anabaena sp.ISC55 on breast cancer in inbred BALB/c mice; 50 adult BALB/c inbred mice with injection of 4T1 breast cancer cell line were examined. Animals were classified into six groups of treatment and control.

Genetically inbred Balb/C mice are more sensitive to an effect of flurazepam and more resistant to an effect of stress than a genetically outbred mouse strain

Epilepsy and Behavior, 2009
The inbred Balb/c mouse strain was more sensitive than the outbred NIH Swiss mouse to flurazepam's ability to antagonize electrically precipitated seizures. In prior work, a reduction in flurazepam's antiseizure efficacy was not observed 24h after forcing Balb/c mice to swim for up to 10 min in ambient temperature water.

Genetically inbred Balb/c mice differ from outbred Swiss Webster mice on discrete measures of sociability: relevance to a genetic mouse model of autism spectrum disorders

Autism Research, 2011
AbstractThe Balb/c mouse is proposed as a model of human disorders with prominent deficits of sociability, such as autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) that may involve pathophysiological disruption of NMDA receptor‐mediated neurotransmission. A standard procedure was used to measure sociability in 8‐week‐old male genetically inbred Balb/c and outbred ...

Plasmodium yoelii: An inbred model for protective immunization against malaria in BALB/c mice

Experimental Parasitology, 1977
Abstract Two lines of the 17X strain of Plasmodium yoelii (P. berghei y.) were used in a demonstration of protective immunity against murine malaria. Both lines were invariably lethal to normal BALB/c mice. γ-irradiated P . yoelii -infected mouse erythrocytes were used as an experimental immunogen.

Natural autoantibodies in nude and normal outbred (Swiss) and inbred ( ) mice

Journal of Autoimmunity, 1989
Spleen cells from adult unprimed outbred (Swiss) and inbred (BALB/c) mice, either normal (no) or athymic-nude (nu) as well as spleen cells from Swiss nude mice bearing two different human tumors (BUR and PINQ), were fused with the mouse non-secreting myeloma cell line P3X63 Ag8-653.

Effects of hippocampal and lateral hypothalamic electrical stimulation on hippocampal cholinergic mechanisms in BALB/c inbred mice

Neuroscience Letters, 1977
Electrical stimulation of the hippocampus (HPC) and of the lateral hypothalamus (LH) were found to have the same 24 h delayed effect on choline acetyltransferase activity. Since previous experiments demonstrated that these treatments had the same effect on memory storage processes, the present finding and earlier neurochemical investigations suggest ...

The Influence of Single or Repeated Low‐Level Sarin Exposure on Immune Functions of Inbred BALB/c Mice

Basic & Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicology, 2004
Abstract: To study the influence of single or repeated low‐level sarin inhalation exposure on immune functions, inbred BALB/c mice were exposed to low clinically asymptomatic concentrations of sarin for 60 min. in the inhalation chamber. The evaluation of immune functions was carried out using phenotyping of CD3 (T‐lymphocytes), CD4 (helper T ...

The Alteration of Immune Reactions in Inbred BALB/cMice Following Low-Level Sarin Inhalation Exposure

Inhalation Toxicology, 2004
To study the influence of low-level sarin inhalation exposure on immune functions, inbred BALB/c mice were exposed to low concentrations of sarin for 60 min in the inhalation chamber. The evaluation of immune functions was carried out using phenotyping of CD3 (T lymphocytes), CD4 (helper T lymphocytes), CD8 (cytotoxic T lymphocytes), and CD19 cells (B ...

Enhancement of cellular immune function during cold adaptation of inbred mice

Cryobiology, 1992
The cell-mediated immune function of cold-adapted BALB/c inbred mice was studied in experiments of splenic lymphocyte blastogenesis, indicated by tritium-labeled deoxythymidine incorporation and SDS-PAGE autoradiography of synthetic proteins in lymphocytes.
