Maternal Behavior in Female C57BL/6J and DBA/2J Inbred Mice

Physiology & Behavior, 1999
Inbred strains of mice exhibit different patterns of maternal behavior, providing material for studies of genetic influences on the expression of maternal behavior. Beginning 1 day after birth, maternal behavior was recorded daily for 14 days in the first and second litters of C57BL/6J (B6) and DBA/2J (D2) mothers.

Discriminative Stimulus Effects of Ethanol in C57BL/6J and DBA/2J Inbred Mice

Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research, 2002
Background: Two of the most widely used mouse strains for studying the behavioral effects of ethanol are C57BL/6J (B6) and DBA/2J (D2) mice. These strains exhibit marked differences in behavioral and physiological responses to ethanol. The subjective discriminative stimulus effects of ethanol may play a role in ethanol abuse, but the discriminative ...

Social approach–avoidance behavior of inbred mouse strains towards DBA/2 mice

Brain Research, 2004
Little is known about the genetics of social approach-avoidance behaviors. We measured social approach-avoidance of prepubescent female C57BL/6J, DBA/2J, FVB/NJ, AKR/J, A/J, and BALB/cJ mice towards prepubescent DBA/2J female mice. C57BL/6J mice showed the greatest predominance of approach, while BALB/cJ mice showed the greatest predominance of ...

PCBs and PBBs: Biologic and toxic effects on C57BL/6J and DBA/2J inbred mice

Toxicology, 1984
Treatment of genetically inbred "responsive" C57BL/6J and "non-responsive" DBA/2J mice with Aroclor 1254 or fireMaster BP-6 resulted in the induction of hepatic microsomal benzo[a]pyrene hydroxylase only in the former mouse strain and aminopyrine N-demethylase in both strains of mice.

Behavioral sensitization to drug stimulant effects in C57BL/6J and DBA/2J inbred mice.

Behavioral Neuroscience, 1994
Common features shared by addictive drugs have been difficult to identify. One ubiquitous effect of these drugs is psychomotor stimulation. Further, repeated exposure commonly results in sensitization to drug stimulant effects. This study evaluates sensitization to drugs from several drug classes in C57BL/6J and DBA/2J inbred strain mice.

Genetic analysis of cerebellar folial pattern in crosses of C57BL/6J and DBA/2J inbred mice

Brain Research, 1993
Variation in the cerebellar folial pattern of mice is influenced by genetic elements [Inouye, M. and Oda, S., J. Comp. Neurol., 190 (1980) 357-362]. In crosses of C57BL/6J and DBA/2J inbred mice, the presence or absence of a specific fissure, the intraculminate fissure, is largely determined by a single genetic locus (Cfp-1), which is located on distal

Characterization of the Discriminative Stimulus Effects of the Neuroactive Steroid Pregnanolone in DBA/2J and C57BL/6J Inbred Mice

The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 2005
Neurosteroids represent a class of endogenous compounds that exert rapid, nongenomic effects through neurotransmitter receptor systems such as GABA(A). Two neurosteroids, allopregnanolone (3alpha-hydroxy-5alpha-pregnan-20-one) and pregnanolone (3alpha-hydroxy-5beta-pregnan-20-one), possess anxiolytic and sedative properties and show substitution for ...

Genotypic differences in mesolimbic enkephalin gene expression in DBA/2J and C57BL/6J inbred mice

European Journal of Pharmacology, 1996
The DBA/2J and C57BL/6J (herein referred to as DBA and C57) inbred mouse strains exhibit low and high predispositions for voluntary ethanol consumption, respectively, but the neurobiological basis underlying this differential drug vulnerability remains poorly understood. Comparison of endogenous brain proenkephalin gene expression showed the C57 mouse,

Functional peculiarities of MAP2 in DBA/2J inbred mice as a component of genetic predisposition to seizures.

Bulletin of experimental biology and medicine, 2001
We compared the content of high molecular microtubule-associated protein-2 and its phosphorylation by cAMP- and Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinases in the brain of DBA/2J and C57Bl/6 inbred mice. The revealed differences in protein content and phosphorylation can be attributed to the mechanisms mediating audiogenic seizures in DBA/2J mice and ...

DEXAMETHASONE INFLUENCE ON MORPHINE-INDUCED ANALGESIA IN OUTBRED SWISS AND IN INBRED DBA/2J AND C57BL/6 MICE.

Clinical Neuropharmacology, 1992
1. The influence of dexamethasone on morphine analgesia in three different strains of mice (Swiss, DBA/2J and C57BL/6) was studied by using the tail flick test. 2. I.c.v. as well as i.p. injections of dexamethasone did not modify nociceptive response in all strains. 3. I.c.v.
