On the Thermodynamics of Reverse Micelles: Effect of Water on Micellization
Colloid Journal, 2020Water may be involved in reverse micelle formation either in the form of a hydration shell or as a solubilisate. Both cases have been analyzed within the framework of a theory based on the mass action law and the definition of the critical micelle concentration (CMC) via the constant of this law.

ChemInform Abstract: ON THE STRUCTURE OF MICELLES

Micelles and Reversed Micelles: A Historical Overview
1984This is a review of the historical development of models for micelle formation in aqueous solution, lyotropic liquid crystals, reversed micelles and microemulsions. The current model of micelle formation was suggested about fifty years ago, while the quantitative development of thermodynamic and kinetic models is relatively recent.

Recueil des Travaux Chimiques des Pays-Bas, 1994
AbstractWe have tested the predictions of four thermodynamic models of micelle formation against experimental enthalpies of micelle formation of model surfactants across a range of temperatures. The mass action (MA) approach agrees best with experimental observations. The change in thermodynamic parameters of micelle formation with temperature has been ...

Effects of Micellization on Growth Kinetics of Methane Hydrate
, 2017Surfactants are specific functional materials that form various types of self-assemblies and affect local water ordering alongside solution properties. Such surface active agents are used extensively in gas hydrate based applications as kinetic hydrate ...

Hyperfine Interactions, 1991
A pseudo first-order term has been added to the kinetic analysis of micelle-mediated muonium reactions. It is discussed with respect to enhancements of several orders of magnitude for reactions such as that of 2-propanol. It covers the possibility of ‘trapping’ of muonium followed by tunneling.

Association of counterions with micelles
Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2003The properties of solutions of ionic surfactants depend on the nature of counterions, aas their association at the misellar surface compensates electrostatic repulsion between the charged heads, thus stabilizing the micellar phase. Above critical micellization concentration the conductivity of the surfactant solution is due to the presence of free ...
