Early performance of a miniaturized leadless cardiac pacemaker: the Micra Transcatheter Pacing Study

open access: yes, 2015
Permanent cardiac pacing is the only effective treatment for symptomatic bradycardia, but complications associated with conventional transvenous pacing systems are commonly related to the pacing lead and pocket.

Leadless Pacemaker Implantation in High‐Risk Patients: Real‐World Outcomes From a Multicenter Israeli Registry

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Transvenous pacemakers are effective but carry significant short‐ and long‐term complications. Leadless pacemakers were developed to overcome these limitations, however, data in high‐risk patients ineligible for transvenous systems remain limited.

Management of Congenital Complete Atrioventricular Block in Preterm Neonates With Novel Pacing Method

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Congenital complete atrioventricular block (CCAVB) is a rare autoimmune mediated disorder with a guarded prognosis, particularly when associated with extreme prematurity and severe bradycardia. Recent advances in neonatal care for extremely premature infants with delivery at level IV neonatal intensive care unit and novel pediatric pacing ...

Leadless pacemaker implantation in challenging scenarios: A case report series of patients with mechanical tricuspid valves

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal
Introduction: The advancement of medical technology has introduced leadless pacemakers (LPMs) as a significant innovation in cardiac pacing, offering potential advantages over traditional ventricular transvenous pacemakers.

A Reassessment of Prophylactic Antibiotics in Low‐Infection‐Risk Electrophysiology Procedures

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Certain electrophysiology (EP) procedures are associated with minimal tissue disruption and do not involve permanent transvenous leads. As a result, these interventions carry a lower risk of device‐ or procedure‐related infection. These procedures include placement of implantable cardiac monitors, leadless pacemakers, and left atrial appendage

How to achieve balloon stability in aortic valvuloplasty using rapid ventricular pacing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Balloon aortic valvuloplasty is now the treatment of choice for congenital aortic stenosis. Balloon stability may be difficult to achieve and this may result in a suboptimal result or even valve damage.

Development of Multifunctional Hierarchically Restructured Antibacterial Neural Interfacing Electrodes via Plasma‐Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition of Zinc Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 69, 27 August 2026.
ABSTRACT Next‐generation implantable neural‐interfacing devices are increasingly constrained by the coupled demands of electrode miniaturization, electrochemical performance, and implantation infection risk. Femtosecond laser–based hierarchical surface restructuring (HSR) technology has emerged as a scalable, manufacturing‐compatible platform for ...

Association Between Inferior Vena Cava Location and the Number of Deployments of a Leadless Pacemaker

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 4, August 2026.
This study evaluated the impact of inferior vena cava (IVC) location, assessed by preoperative CT, on leadless pacemaker implantation in 96 patients. Left‐sided IVC group was significantly associated with a higher risk of multiple deployments compared to Right‐sided IVC group (67% vs. 36%, p = 0.02).
