Structure and bioactivity of micro-arc oxidized zirconia films

Surface and Coatings Technology, 2007
Abstract Zirconia films have been prepared by micro-arc oxidation (MAO) of zirconium in an aqueous solution using a pulse power supply. Surface morphology, element composition, phase components, bond strength and bioactivity of the films are investigated as a function of the applied voltage in the range of 350–500 V.

Plasma electrolytic oxidation/micro-arc oxidation of magnesium and its alloys

2015
The plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) process which converts the surface of magnesium alloys into a hard ceramic like topcoat has been found to be capable of providing an enhanced wear and corrosion resistance. By changing the process parameters e.g. electrolyte composition, current density, duration etc.

Measurement System Research on Micro-Arc Oxidation Load Feature

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
Micro-arc oxidation has become a focus of research on the surface of metal processing. But do not understand the load characteristics of the application of the micro-arc oxidation. In order to get the load characteristics of DC power supply which work in the process of micro-arc oxidation, a muti-waveform frequency sweeping power and DC voltage source ...

Bioactive tantalum metal prepared by micro-arc oxidation and NaOH treatment

Journal of Materials Chemistry B, 2014
The study aim was to evaluate the effect of micro-arc oxidation (MAO) and alkali treatment on porous tantalum specimens by foam immersion technology. Tantalum specimens modified by MAO formed an apatite layer on their surfaces in simulated body fluid (SBF). However, the leach liquor of these specimens shows toxicity to 3T3-E1 cells.

Hydroxyapatite coatings produced on commercially pure titanium by micro-arc oxidation

Biomedical Materials, 2007
A porous hydroxyapatite (HA) coating on commercially pure titanium was prepared by micro-arc oxidation (MAO) in electrolytic solution containing calcium acetate and beta-glycerol phosphate disodium salt pentahydrate (beta-GP). The thickness, phase, composition morphology and biocompatibility of the oxide coating were characterized by x-ray diffraction (

Electrically polarized micro-arc oxidized TiO2 coatings with enhanced surface hydrophilicity

Acta Biomaterialia, 2012
The use of micro-arc oxidation titania (MAO TiO2) coatings to modify titanium surfaces improves the biocompatibility of implant surfaces. To obtain hydrophilic MAO TiO2 coating surfaces electric polarization, which induces surface electric fields in the materials and produces surface charges, was performed in this study.
