Experiments on Image Processing for Micro-Assembly
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013This paper introduces a micro-assembly system based on image processing and focuses on some key technologies. The system employed some orthogonal wavelet functions to filter images and the suitible filtering effects were obtained by Symlets wavelet basis.

Development of a robotic manipulator for micro-assembly operations
Proceedings of 1993 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS '93), 2002The author describes the first stage in the development of a robotic manipulator system for assembly, disassembly and adjustment of micro-mechanical devices. Mobility is provided by a six-degree-of-freedom parallel actuated manipulator using spring-tensioned tendons.

A lightweight suction gripper for micro assembly
Precision Engineering, 2008Assembly is a crucial part in the realization of a product. Compared to assembly in the macro world, assembly in the micro world is influenced by scaling effects [1, 2]. These include surface forces, high requirements on the placement uncertainty and small product dimensions.

Micro-assembly for top-down nanotechnology
MHS2000. Proceedings of 2000 International Symposium on Micromechatronics and Human Science (Cat. No.00TH8530), 2002A top-down assembly approach to nanotechnology starting with parts using MEMS techniques is presented. MEMS components, built with integrated circuit manufacturing processes, can be used to fabricate complex parts with integrated functionality. These parts can be used in assemblies at the micron length scale and above. To pursue assemblies of this type

Hexsil tweezers for teleoperated micro-assembly
Proceedings IEEE The Tenth Annual International Workshop on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems. An Investigation of Micro Structures, Sensors, Actuators, Machines and Robots, 2002This paper describes essential components of a prototype system for teleoperated microassembly. High aspect ratio molded polysilicon (hexsil) tweezers with integrated in-situ phosphorous doped thermal expansion actuator beams and piezoresistive polysilicon strain gages for tactile feedback are described. The tweezers are normally closed, and require 75

Scheduling and Verification of Micro Assembly Processes
2008This paper presents the scheduling and verification of automated micro assembly processes for which assembly accuracies of a few micrometers are necessary. To reach these accuracies, a relative positioning strategy was used. Possible solutions for the scheduling and verification of two micro assembly processes carried out by a size-adapted assembly ...
