Ten Years of Micro-CT in Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery: A Literature Overview

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) is a consolidated imaging technology allowing non-destructive three-dimensional (3D) qualitative and quantitative analysis by the observation of microstructures with high resolution.

Micro-CT Technique Is Well Suited for Documentation of Remodeling Processes in Murine Carotid Arteries.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
BackgroundThe pathomechanisms of atherosclerosis and vascular remodelling are under intense research. Only a few in vivo tools to study these processes longitudinally in animal experiments are available.

Nondestructive analysis of urinary calculi using micro computed tomography

open access: yesBMC Urology, 2004
Background Micro computed tomography (micro CT) has been shown to provide exceptionally high quality imaging of the fine structural detail within urinary calculi.

Evaluation of Trabecular Microstructure of Cancellous Bone Using Quarter-Detector Computed Tomography

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
Quarter-detector computed tomography (QDCT) is an ultra-high-spatial-resolution imaging technique. This study aimed to verify the validity of trabecular structure evaluation using a QDCT scanner in the diagnosis of osteoporosis. We used a cancellous bone

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

How does nano-focus computed tomography impact the quantification of debris within the root canal system?

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2023
The aim of this study was to compare the quantification of hard-tissue debris by using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) and nano-focus computed tomography (nano-CT) after root canal instrumentation.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Comparison of Performance of Micro-Computed Tomography (Micro-CT) and Synchrotron Radiation CT in Assessing Coronary Stenosis Caused by Calcified Plaques in Coronary Artery Phantoms

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Diseases, 2023
Synchrotron-radiation-computed tomography (SRCT) allows more accurate calcified plaque and coronary stenosis assessment as a result of its superior spatial resolution; however, typical micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) systems have even higher ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Characterization of Microarchitectures, Stiffness and Strength of Human Trabecular Bone Using Micro-Computed Tomography (Micro-CT) Scans

open access: yesBioMed, 2023
The present work presents evaluation and experimental verification of the use of X-ray computed tomographic microscopy (micro-CT) for accurate characterization of geometry, microarchitecture, and stiffness properties of bones.
