Evaluation of Plasticity and Creep Parameters From Tensile Stress–Strain Data for a Range of Strain Rates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This plot compares experimental tensile stress–strain curves (with 4 different strain rates) and corresponding modelled curves (obtained using the optimised sets of Voce and Miller–Norton parameter values shown). The inferred M‐N values, characterizing the creep, are very similar to those obtained via conventional creep testing.

Bone Evaluation with Micro Finite Element Analysis in Animal Models

open access: yesTomography
Micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) is a commonly used tool for bone evaluation in animal model research. Micro-scale finite element analysis (µFEA) has been proposed to account for different loading scenarios, detailed three-dimensional (3D) bone ...

Cardiac Micro–Computed Tomography for Morphological and Functional Phenotyping of Muscle LIM Protein Null Mice

open access: yesMolecular Imaging, 2007
The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of micro–computed tomography (micro-CT) for morphological and functional phenotyping of muscle LIM protein (MLP) null mice and to compare micro-CT with M-mode echocardiography.

Analysis of Murine Lung Tumors by Micro PET-CT Imaging

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2015
Accurate live tumor imaging in mice is now possible by means of high-resolution positron emission tomography (micro-PET) and X-ray computed tomography (micro-CT).

Optimization of scanner parameters for dual energy micro-CT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Two materials of different composition can have very similar grey values in an X-ray Computed Tomography (CT). This is because X-ray CT uses polychromatic sources in combination with energy-integrating detectors and the materials have a mass attenuation ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Enhancement of early proximal caries annotations in radiographs: introducing the Diagnostic Insights for Radiographic Early-caries with micro-CT (ACTA-DIRECT) dataset

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background Proximal caries datasets for training artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms commonly include clinician-annotated radiographs. These conventional annotations are susceptible to observer variability, and early caries may be missed.
