Modeling rainfall drop size distribution moments using an S‐band polarimetric radar in complex terrain

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Using S‐band dual‐polarization radar and disdrometers during PRECIP 2022 in Taiwan, we analyze a Mei‐Yu frontal event with widespread stratiform rain and embedded convection. Multiple disdrometers are used to create a novel drop size distribution model for S‐band radars resolving both the drizzle and precipitation modes. The model reveals both inferred

Time-Frequency Spectral Signature of Limb Movements and Height Estimation Using Micro-Doppler Millimeter-Wave Radar

open access: yesSensors, 2020
We present a technique for the identification of human and animal movement and height using a low power millimeter-wave radar. The detection was based on the transmission of a continuous wave and heterodyning the received signal reflected from the target

A Luminescent PEI/Cy5‐Citrate‐Functionalized Carbonated Apatite Nanoplatform for In Vitro Gene Delivery and In Vivo Traceability

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A luminescent PEI/Cy5‐citrate‐functionalized carbonated apatite nanoplatform combines biocompatibility, plasmid delivery, and Cy5‐based traceability. The system enables effective in vitro gene delivery while preserving cell viability and allows real‐time in vivo fluorescence tracking of the nanocarrier.

Micro-doppler radar to evaluate risk for musculoskeletal injury: Protocol for a case-control study with gold standard comparison.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
BackgroundBeyond causing significant morbidity and cost, musculoskeletal injuries (MSKI) are among the most common reasons for primary care visits. A validated injury risk assessment tool for MSKI is conspicuously absent from current care.

Characterization of Nonmetallic Inclusions in Ce‐Containing Steels at the Submicroscopic Level

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Accurate detection of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) is crucial for ensuring high standards in steel cleanness and properties. Optimized automated SEM/EDS measurements are required for evaluating Ce‐containing NMIs. This study enhances the characterization of submicroscopic NMI in Ce‐alloyed ultralow‐carbon, high‐manganese, and electrical steels ...

Bistatic human micro-Doppler signatures for classification of indoor activities [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE Radar Conference (RadarConf), 2017
This paper presents the analysis of human micro- Doppler signatures collected by a bistatic radar system to classify different indoor activities. Tools for automatic classification of different activities will enable the implementation and deployment of systems for monitoring life patterns of people and identifying fall events or anomalies which may be

Evaluation of systemic consequences of brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome in dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS) results from upper airway anatomical abnormalities and may cause systemic effects depending on severity. Methods A prospective, case‒control and observational study was conducted.

Optimization-Based Discontinuous Observation Strategy for Micro-Doppler Signature Extraction of Space Cone Targets

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In order to obtain relatively complete micro-Doppler (m-D) signatures of space precession cone targets, at least one precession period of dwell time is always required.

European S2k guidelines for hidradenitis suppurativa/acne inversa Part 1. Epidemiology, diagnosis and clinical assessment

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Updated S2k hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) guidelines provide expert consensus on diagnosis, assessment and comorbidities. Expanded substantially since the 2015 version, they reflect rapid growth in HS literature and aim to improve generalist‐level patient care through evidence‐informed, consensus‐based guidance.
