Micro-galvanic corrosion during formation of epoxy coating

Progress in Organic Coatings, 2020
The effect of substrate micro-galvanic corrosion on the curing of an epoxy coating was investigated through analyzing the potentiodynamic polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectra and galvanic current densities of metallic substrates with various galvanic cells exposed in epoxy, curing agent and their mixture.

Susceptibility of rare-earth-magnesium alloys to micro-galvanic corrosion

Corrosion Science, 2010
Abstract Four commercially produced rare-earth-magnesium alloys, as-cast ZE41, sand-cast WE43-T6, and wrought WE43-T6 and WE54-T6, were studied by scanning Kelvin probe force microscopy (SKPFM) in order to evaluate the role of their micro-constituent phases on potential galvanic interactions.

Insight into the localized strain effect on micro-galvanic corrosion behavior in AA7075-T6 aluminum alloy

Corrosion Science, 2021
Abstract Micro-galvanic corrosion behaviors between two primary intermetallic particles (Mg2Si, α(Al-Fe-Cu)) and the Al matrix were investigated under elastic and plastic deformations in AA7075-T6. Strain localization was mainly concentrated within Mg2Si and at the interface of α(Al-Fe-Cu)/Al matrix under deformations.

Numerical modeling of micro-galvanic corrosion

Electrochimica Acta, 2011
Abstract A novel numerical model capturing the evolution of cross-sectional microstructure to investigate its effect on corrosion behavior of magnesium (Mg) alloys is presented in this work using a moving mesh technique in COMSOL Multi-Physics ® . The model is capable of tracking the moving boundary of the corroding phase (α phase).

Micro-galvanic corrosion of Cu/Ru couple in potassium periodate (KIO 4 ) solution

Corrosion Science, 2018
Abstract This paper focuses on the study of micro-galvanic corrosion of the Cu/Ru couple in KIO4 solution. Practical nobility across the Cu/Ru interface was evaluated by Volta potential mapping, and the morphological changes were monitored by in-situ atomic force microscopy measurements during exposure in a KIO4 solution.
