Micro-hole fabrication by mechanical punching process

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2005
Abstract In the present investigation, micro-hole punching was studied, and the standard punching condition was scaled down to produce 25 μm size holes. For this, a micro punching press was designed and assembled, meeting requirements of process accuracy for 25 μm size holes.

Boundary-layer bleed through micro holes

37th Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 1999
Computations were performed to investigate the effects of bleeding a supersonic-boundary-layer flow into a plenum through four rows of micro holes that are arranged in a staggered fashion. The diameter of each hole (D) is l/100 of the approaching boundary-layer thickness.

Positioning for array micro-holes punching

Proceedings of 2011 6th International Forum on Strategic Technology, 2011
The forming technique of micro-punching is an important method for precision plastic machining of micro-parts, the micro-hole size must be sub-millimeter in two-dimension. To punch less than 200µm micro-holes on thin plate and realize precise positioning, established positioning system based on micro-vision technology and detected the location of thin ...

Micro Electrical Discharge Machining of Micro-Hole

Advanced Science, Engineering and Medicine, 2020
Advancements in micro-fabrication are characterized by a progressive miniaturization leading towards higher integration. The fabrication of particular size micro hole in difficile to machine engineering materials is one of the most challenging tasks in manufacturing industry. Since micro holes are prepared in the end product therefore the rejection of

Micro hole-based cell chip with impedance spectroscopy

Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 2007
Electric fields can be used for the characterisation and manipulation of single biological cells. One approach to avoid the effect of electrode polarisation is to position cells on micro holes and to apply the electrical fields via the micro holes. For a correct characterisation and optimal manipulation, the electrical properties of the micro hole/cell

Micro-hole drilling with femtosecond fiber laser

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
Femtosecond (fs) laser becomes more popular in precise material procesing due to the limited heat affected zone (HAZ) over longer laser pulses. In this paper, micro-hole drilling in ambient air with fs fiber laser at 1030 nm is presented. Micro holes were fabricated in both transparent (polymer and glass), and non-transparent materials (metal and ...

Micro Hole Elliptical Supersonic Boring Quality Research

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
In this paper a method of ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting has been applied to precision boring of micro hole due to its superior performances such as low cutting force, high quality surface finish and long tool life. A transducer with the longitudinal excitation is carried out to machining(boring) micro hole of 1Cr18Ni9Ti workpiece. The cutting

Drilling of high quality micro holes

ICALEO 2000: Proceedings of the Laser Materials Processing Conference, 2000
Laser drilling is the oldest production technique using lasers. Nevertheless, the number of industrial applications is lying far behind of those of marking, cutting and welding. In cases when high accuracy is required, like for instance fuel injection nozzles, laser drilling could not fulfil the requirements, up to now. The major problem

Micro-Hole Diameter Inspection Using Audible Sound

Key Engineering Materials, 2015
This paper presents a method for inspecting micro-holes with diameters of less than 100 μm using audible sound. The inspection system measures the micro-hole diameter by comparing two sound signals. Fluid flow through micro-holes affects the performance of products such as CO gas sensor parts, microphone filters and fuel injection plates. Therefore, if
