Determination of Cutting Forces for Micro Milling
ASME 2008 International Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference, Volume 2, 2008To enhance the implementation of micro milling, it is necessary to clearly understand the dynamic characteristics of micro milling so that proper machining parameters can be used to meet the requirements of application. By taking the effect of minimum chip thickness and rake angle into account, a new cutting force model of micro-milling which is ...

Process Machine Interactions in Micro Milling
2013In this chapter, both analytical and experimental studies on the process stability of micro milling are presented. The investigations are carried out in order to improve a comprehensive model, which describes interactions of the dynamic cutting forces and the dynamic machine tool behavior including the end mill.

Fuzzy cutting force modelling in micro-milling
Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, 2013Reliable prediction of cutting forces is essential for micromilling. In this paper, a fuzzy cutting force modelling method based on subtractive clustering method filters the noise and estimates the instantaneous cutting forces using observations acquired by sensors during cutting experiments.

Manufacturability analysis system for micro-milling
Proceedings of the 2011 International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Informatics, 2011Manufacturability analysis systems (MASs) have been developed to ensure that the ‘ready for manufacture’ designs are exempted from repetitive iterations occurring at the interface between design and manufacturing activities when the sequential approach of the product development lifecycle is taken into account.

Experimental Study on Micro Milling of Glass
2021Glass material has sophisticated mechanical and physical properties and is widely used in various industrial fields such as optics, biomedical and electronics. However, due to its brittle nature, glass is hard to process material. In order to produce a part with a good surface quality, glass is processed in liquid or viscous state.

Micro-milling of unreinforced and reinforced polypropylene
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2017It is essential to determine the micro-machinability performance of polymer and glass fiber–reinforced polymer composite in order to effectively utilize the polymer and its composite as an engineering material at the micro-scale world. However, a literature survey revealed that not much work was done on the micro-milling of polymer and its composite ...
