Micro-milling work-holding devices employing adhesive forces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
IngenieursweseBedryfsingenieursweseMicro-parts are often very fragile rendering conventional, mechanical work-holding fixtures unsuitable for them since they exert large straining forces. Furthermore, macroworkholding devices occupy a large space which

Micro Milled Microfluidic Photoionization Detector for Volatile Organic Compounds [PDF]

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
Government regulations and environmental conditions are pushing the development of improved miniaturized gas analyzers for volatile organic compounds. One of the many detectors used for gas analysis is the photoionization detector (PID). This paper presents the design and characterization of a microfluidic photoionization detector (or µPID) fabricated ...

A process chain for integrating microfluidic interconnection elements by micro- overmoulding of thermoplastic elastomers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper presents a process chain for in-line integration of microfluidic interconnection elements by a variant of micro-injection moulding (mu IM). A SEBS-based thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) was moulded over polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) to produce

Prediction of micro milling force and surface roughness considering size-dependent vibration of micro-end mill

open access: yesThe International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2021
When the characteristic structure size of the component is at the micron level, the internal crystal grains, grain boundaries, and pore defects of the component material with the same size at the micron level cannot be ignored, so the micro-sized ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
