The stress corrosion of pipeline steel was promoted by sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB). However, the mechanism of SRB promoting stress corrosion is not clear. In this study, the effects of constant load, geometrical parameters and multi-pitting on stress

Modeling of Micro-Pit Evolution in Rolling or Strip-Drawing [PDF]
The micro-plasto-hydrodynamic lubrication (MPHL) model of pit evolution is extended to account for the variation of sliding speed and strain rate in rolling and drawing processes. Results show that all of the following factors are important: pit angle, lubricant viscosity and pressure viscosity coefficient, material yield stress and sliding speed ...

Numerical modelling of micro‐pitting of gear teeth flanks
ABSTRACTA two‐dimensional computational model for simulation of contact fatigue of gear teeth flanks is presented. In the model, it is assumed that the initial crack of length 0.015 mm is initiated at the surface due to previous mechanical or heat treatment of the material as well as a consequence of the running in process.

To reduce weight and improve efficiency of the power transmission, the gears must be miniaturized and lubricant viscosity must be lower. However, these changes will bring about augment of contact pressure and severe lubricating condition.

Pulsed Laser-Induced Micro-Pits: As Bone Stabilizers
AbstractMechanical interlocking concept is a crucial criteria for osseointegration which is based on micro-porous surface structures. Several surface treatment methods have been used to modify the surface morphology of titanium implants in order to increase the effective interfacial area.

Improvement of Lubrication Performance by Micro Pit Surfaces
This paper describes an investigation on improvement of lubrication performance by incorporating micropits on a surface with special focus on the arrangement of the micropits. Water lubricated experiments were conducted using a test rig in which parallel conformal sliding motion was produced between mechanical seal faces.

Analytical Elastostatic Contact Mechanics of Highly-Loaded Contacts of Varying Conformity
In applications requiring high load carrying capacity, conforming contacting pairs with a relatively large contact footprint are used. These include circular arc, Novikov, and Wildhaber gears found, for example, in helicopter rotors.
