Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Effect of red and blue light versus white light on fruit biomass radiation-use efficiency in dwarf tomatoes

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
The effect of the ratio of red and blue light on fruit biomass radiation-use efficiency (FBRUE) in dwarf tomatoes has not been well studied. Additionally, whether white light offers a greater advantage in improving radiation-use efficiency (RUE) and ...

The LeATL6-Associated Ubiquitin/Proteasome System May Contribute to Fungal Elicitor-Activated Defense Response via the Jasmonic Acid-Dependent Signaling Pathway in Tomato

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2007
The expression of LeATL6, an ortholog of Arabidopsis ATL6 that encodes a RING-H2 finger protein, was induced in tomato roots treated with a cell wall protein fraction (CWP) elicitor of the biocontrol agent Pythium oligandrum.

A Highly Efficient Transformation Protocol for Micro-Tom, a Model Cultivar for Tomato Functional Genomics [PDF]

open access: yesPlant and Cell Physiology, 2006
We report a highly efficient protocol for the Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation of a miniature dwarf tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum), Micro-Tom, a model cultivar for tomato functional genomics. Cotyledon explants of tomato inoculated with Agrobacterium tumefaciens (Rhizobium radiobacter) C58C1Rif(R) harboring the binary vector pIG121Hm ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Drench Application of Soy Protein Hydrolysates Increases Tomato Plant Fitness, Fruit Yield, and Resistance to a Hemibiotrophic Pathogen

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
At a time when growers have to increase food production, while facing many environmental challenges, biostimulants and plant defence stimulators (PDS) may help reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and to promote agriculture that is more ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Application of ethanol alleviates heat damage to leaf growth and yield in tomato

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Chemical priming has emerged as a promising area in agricultural research. Our previous studies have demonstrated that pretreatment with a low concentration of ethanol enhances abiotic stress tolerance in Arabidopsis and cassava.

Comprehensive Resources for Tomato Functional Genomics Based on the Miniature Model Tomato Micro-Tom [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Genomics, 2008
Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L., Solanaceae) is an excellent model plant for genomic research of solanaceous plants, as well as for studying the development, ripening, and metabolism of fruit. In 2003, the International Solanaceae Project (SOL, www.sgn.cornell.edu ) was initiated by members from more than 30 countries, and the tomato genome-sequencing ...

ESR1 methylation and ESR1 mutations in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and paired plasma‐cfDNA of advanced breast cancer patients: A feasibility proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) were analyzed to detect ESR1 mutations and methylation in patients with advanced breast cancer. CTC‐derived DNA showed higher sensitivity for mutation detection and revealed complementary genetic and epigenetic alterations, highlighting the added value of CTC analysis for understanding ...
