Focused Ion Beam Micro Machining and Micro Assembly [PDF]
The ability to manufacture and manipulate components at the micro-scale is critical to the development of micro systems. This paper presents the technique to manipulate micro/nano parts at the micro/nano-scale using an integrated Focused Ion Beam (FIB) system composed of scanning electron microscope, micro manipulator and gas injection system ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Hybrid Systems-in-Foil—Combining the Merits of Thin Chips and of Large-Area Electronics
This paper reports on the status of a comprehensive ten-year research and development effort toward hybrid system-in-foil (HySiF). In HySiF, the merits of high-performance integrated circuits on ultra-thin chips and of large-area and discrete electronic ...

Processes for the Self-assembly of Micro Parts [PDF]
The following approach of a fluidic based self-assembly process uses the surface forces for a precise handling and positioning of small devices for a roll-to-roll manufacturing. The surface, on which the device should be positioned, will be functionalized with hydrophile and hydrophobic areas.

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control
