The micro determination of calcium in mammalian hard tissues

The Analyst, 1968
A spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of microgram amounts of calcium. The procedure is extremely rapid and simple, enabling amounts of calcium in the range 2 to 3·5 µg per ml to be determined with an accuracy of about ±1 per cent. (standard deviation).

Micro-indentation hardness studies on human bones

Cells Tissues Organs, 1979
Bones from different portions of human skeleton are polished and cut to suitable sizes and then subjected to micro-indentation at various loads using Vicker’s diamond pyramidal indenter. The Vicker’s hardness number is found to differ slightly from portion to portion of the skeleton.

Micro-Hardness and Micro-Wear Measurements on Magnetic Heads

2003
Wear of carbon coated sliders during contact start stop testing was measured by monitoring changes in the depths of ion milled “trenches” in the airbearing surface. Wear was determined as a function of sliding distance and glide height of the media. In addition, nano-hardness measurements were used to characterize the carbon overcoats.

A nuclear tester for micro-hardness measurement

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2012
Abstract The dependence of alpha particle track diameter on the hardness of a diallyl maleate–allyl diglycol carbonate (DAM–ADC) nuclear track detector is investigated. When etched under optimum conditions, a relationship between track diameter and hardness is determined which is found to be linear.

The influence of various cavity bases on the micro‐hardness of composites

Australian Dental Journal, 1982
Abstract— This study reports the effects of five commonly used bases on the hardness of three newer composite resins. The bases were a calcium hydroxide, a polycarboxylate, a ZOE, an EBA, and a glass ionomer cement. All bases except the calcium hydroxide caused reduction in the hardness of each composite, although for some base/composite combinations ...

PROGRESS IN MICRO-INDENTATION HARDNESS TESTING

Metallurgical Reviews, 1959
AbstractAs the concept of micro-indentation hardness testing has not yet become commonly accepted, nor has any definition of it been universally agreed upon, it is desirable to begin by reviewing the development and the present state of hardness testing under low load, and to say something about the terminology.

Micro-Hardness and Morphology of LDPE Influenced by Beta Radiation

Key Engineering Materials, 2014
This article deals with the influence of different doses of Beta radiation to the structure and mico-mechanical properties of Low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Hard surface layers of polymer materials, especially LDPE, can be formed by radiation cross-linking by β radiation with doses of 33, 66 and 99 kGy.

Micro-hardness measurements on single haversian systems in bone

Experientia, 1954

Improvement of micro endmill geometry for micro hard milling application

2008
One of the applications of the micromilling technology is to machine micro features on moulds by direct machining of hardened tool steels. However at this moment, this process is not industrial applicable because of the encountered problems, such as the big tool deflection, severe tool wear, and pre-mature tool breakage.

Effect of pressure and light curing of composite micro hardness.

Journal of biological regulators and homeostatic agents, 2020
The aim of this study is to evaluate the micro hardness Vickers of a composite micro hybrid polymerized under constant pressure. Twelve experimental samples were made equally divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control. Enamel plus HRi (Micerium) microbiotic composite resin, UD3 colour, was inserted into a syringe heater (ENA HEAT ...
