Studying Membrane Protein Structures by MicroED

2021
Microcrystal electron diffraction (MicroED) enables atomic resolution structures to be determined from vanishingly small crystals. Soluble proteins typically grow crystals that are tens to hundreds of microns in size for X-ray crystallography. But membrane protein crystals often grow crystals that are too small for X-ray diffraction and yet too large ...

Development of Rechargeable Micro Batteries Based on Micro Channel Structures

2012 IEEE International Conference on Green Computing and Communications, 2012
A technology has been developed for the extreme miniaturization of lithium ion micro batteries using wafer level processing. These batteries will be used as electronic buffer storage in future miniaturized sensor nodes, data loggers, RFID devices and medical applications. The micro batteries can store the energy generated by energy harvesters which are

Interpretation of Micro-Structures in Carbonaceous Meteorites

Nature, 1962
IN their recent article1, Claus and Suba-C reiterate a number of older arguments in favour of a biogenic origin of the non-birefringent, globular objects in the Orgueil meteorite. I am of the opinion that these are microchondri of glass and I have previously expounded my arguments in favour of this2.

Piezoresistive micro-accelerometer with supplement structure

10th IEEE International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular Systems, 2015
In order to establish optimal structure for micro vibration due to electric spark occurs in the faulty cable. A novel acceleration sensing with supplement beams structure utilizing the piezoresistive principle is presented and compared with traditional structures.

Structural Behaviour of UHPC with Micro-Reinforcement

IABSE Reports, 2017
<p>With intent to provide a ductile failure and to use Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) to full capacity usually steel fibres are added during the mixing process. The impaired workability as well as random orientation and spreading of the fibres, the increased environmental pollution and the cost factor are beside the spots of corrosion ...

The Micro-Structure of Tapping Movements in Children

Journal of Motor Behavior, 1984
In order to investigate the development of movement speed in relation to movement organization, children of 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 years of age and adults carried out a reciprocal tapping task, in which time pressure and distance were manipulated. The duration, velocity, acceleration and accuracy of the movements were compared between age groups.

Micro‐transactions for concurrent data structures

Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience, 2012
SUMMARYTransactional memory is a promising technique for enforcing disciplined access to shared data in a multiprocessor system. Transactional memory simplifies the implementation of a variety of concurrent data structures. In this paper, we study the benefits of a modest, real‐time aware, hardware implementation of transactional memory that we ...

A model for the micro-structure in ciliated organisms

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1972
Improved models for the movement of fluid by cilia are presented. A theory which models the cilia of an organism by an array of flexible long slender bodies distributed over and attached at one end to a plane surface is developed. The slender bodies are constrained to move in similar patterns to the cilia of the microorganismsOpalina ...
