Investigation of the Migration Patterns for Nanoplastics With Different Sizes in Chlorella vulgaris and Their Effects on Heavy Metal Adsorption by the Microalgae

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 2, March 2026.
Smaller PS‐NPs penetrated Chlorella, while larger particles adhered to the cell surface. Post‐adsorption, Chlorella exhibited size‐specific alterations in membrane parameters. PS‐NPs of varying sizes differently altered Chlorella's adsorption capacity of heavy metals.

Unravelling Rheology and Structural Properties of Polysaccharides from Porphyridium Purpureum After Alkali Pre‐Treatment

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, Volume 26, Issue 3, March 2026.
Porphyridium purpureum polysaccharides are established hydrocolloids among several microalgal biomolecules, however they only exhibit higher viscosity without gelling capacity. Therefore, this study chose to employ alkali pretreatment to Porphyridium purpureum to investigate whether controlled chemical modification could alter the molecular structure ...
