Alkane biosynthesis gene expression and its increased production in recombinant cyanobacteria

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 15, Issue 6, Page 949-962, June 2025.
The transcription and mRNA structures of the alkane biosynthesis genes ado/aar were analysed in the representative cyanobacteria PCC 6803 and SK1‐2‐1, which produce C17H36 and C15H32, respectively. PCC 6803 transconjugants carrying these genes showed a 1.8‐ to 2.3‐fold increase in C17H36 production.

Functional Optical Fibers with Tailored Side Emission from Modified Rod‐in‐Tube Preforms

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2025.
A modified rod‐in‐tube method enables fabrication of functional optical fibers with tailored light‐diffusing properties. The approach incorporates optically active species at a well‐defined radial position within an otherwise homogeneous fiber core. Using lanthanide ions and noble metal nanoparticles as active species demonstrates wavelength conversion

Importance of Minerals and Their Bioavailability in Boosting Aquaculture: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 5, Issue 3, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Fish like other terrestrial animals, have specific requirements for individual minerals that support the growth and maintenance of normal fish health and other biological functions among different cultured fish species. These minerals can be either macro or micro minerals that are supplied to the fish body through diets or absorbed from their ...

Examining the nexus between productivity growth, circular bioeconomy, and climate change: A bibliometric analysis

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract The impact of productivity growth on climate change is multifaceted, with consequences for resource consumption, emissions, and overall ecological balance. Simultaneously, the emergence of the circular bioeconomy introduces a framework emphasizing the sustainable utilization of renewable biological resources. This study explores a quantitative
