Coarse Grained Heat-Affected Zone Microstructure and Brittleness of Ti-Nb-B Microalloyed High Toughness and Wear Resistant Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2019
The effects of B, Ti-Nb, and Ti-Nb-B microalloying on the microstructure and properties of the coarse grain heat affected zone (CGHAZ) of C-Mn-Si-Mo wear-resistant steel have been investigated by means of thermal simulation, mechanical property test ...

Impact properties of microalloyed steels

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2000
Impact properites of two grades of microalloyed steels (Re>MPa) work hardened by static and dynamic inuaxial tension are presented. Properties are analysed by impact testing at very high impact loading rate (v=785 m/s) and by fatigue testing at ultrasonic, high frequency (20 kHz).

Contribution to evaluation of mechanical properties during impact loading [PDF]

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2008
The paper analyzes the influence of the impact rate of up to 120 ms-1 with a constant energy on the relative compression of high-grade unalloyed steels, Cu and Zn, and the evaluation of energy consumed during the impact bending test at the impact rate of

Optimized carbon extraction replicas for transmission electron microscopy of nanoprecipitates in microalloyed low-carbon steels

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Nanoprecipitates play a decisive role in strengthening of microalloyed low-carbon steels. The direct carbon extraction replica (CER) method is a promising way to extract the nanoprecipitates from the surrounding iron matrix for a detailed ...

Niobium in Microalloyed Rail Steels

open access: yes, 2017
Rail steels rely primarily on possessing adequate wear and rolling contact fatigue resistance. These properties, together with the toughness, can in principle be optimized by implementing thermomechanical processing assisted by controlled niobium additions. The purpose of the current work is to develop a Nb-microalloying strategy in the context of high-

Intergranular corrosion of TiNb-microalloyed martensitic stainless steels processed by quenching and partitioning

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
This study investigates the localised corrosion mechanisms in laboratory-processed Q&P-treated martensitic stainless steels. Two steel variants, one NbTi-free (alloy B) and the other micro-alloyed with Nb and Ti (alloy M) were investigated to elucidate ...
