New sealing treatment of microarc oxidation coating

Surface Engineering, 2014
Silanisation treatment was proposed as a new approach for sealing treatment of microarc oxidation (MAO) coating on Mg alloy AZ91D. The morphologies of the Mg alloy surfaces after MAO with or without silanisation sealing treatment were characterised by scanning electron microscopy. The results demonstrated that quite a few structural defects, including

Characterization of Microarc Oxidation Process on Aluminium Alloy

Chinese Physics Letters, 2003
The specific features of electric current variation against time were studied by keeping the anode and cathode pulse voltage to be constant. The maximum thickness of the films fabricated by microarc oxidation was found to be closely related to the voltage.

Surface modification of titanium implant by microarc oxidation and hydrothermal treatment

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, 2004
AbstractSurface modification of titanium implant is processed by microarc oxidation and hydrothermal treatment. A porous surface with a biologically active bone‐like apatite layer was formed. The apatite layer consists of very fine crystals and high crystallinity and is integrated with the titanium alloy substrate with a graded structure without a ...

Formation characterization of hydroxyapatite on titanium by microarc oxidation and hydrothermal treatment

Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering, 2005
Microarc oxidation (MAO) was performed on titanium in an electrolyte containing calcium glycerphosphate (Ca-GP) and calcium acetate (CA) using a direct current power supply. It was found that the MAO method is suitable forming a ceramic coating containing Ca and P using titanium, and that films display a porous and rough structure on their surface ...

Influence of process parameters on the properties of microarc oxide coatings

2023
In this work, oxide coatings on aluminum samples were obtained by the method of micro-arc oxidation at a sinusoidal current in an anode-cathode alloy with an anode and cathode current ratio of 1, with a current approximation of 10.88; 13.99; 17.10; 20.21; 23.32 A/dm2 in four electrolytes containing 0.5 g/l NaOH and 80, 90, 100 and 110 g/l Na2SiO3.

Bioactivity Study of the Titanium Plates Treated with Microarc Oxidation and Alkali

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2011
Microarc oxidation (MAO) and alkali treatment was used to modify the surface of titanium, which prepared different microstructure and nanostructure TiO2-based coating on titanium. The samples were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and contact angle measuring instrument.

Cytotoxicity study of a novel implant material modified by microarc oxidation

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, 2006
This study examined the cytotoxicity of a new implant material modified by microarc oxidation technique. Cells on different surfaces of the implant were evaluated 2, 4 and 6 days after treatment. The results showed that cell attachment, cell morphology, and cell proliferation were influenced by the different surface treatments, and a significant ...

EFFECT OF EXCESS NEGATIVE IONS ON ANODIC OXIDATION IN MICROARC OXIDATION OF TITANIUM

Modern Physics Letters B, 2009
The effects of the electrical bias conditions on oxide film during titanium MAO (microarc oxidation) were investigated. Since DC voltage showed very low stabilized currents but produced oxide films with poor quality, the magnitude of applied voltages, duty cycles, and frequencies were modulated to control the quality of the oxide film.
