Photocatalytic performance of magnesium alloy microarc oxides
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2013Abstract Microarc oxidation (MAO) coatings were prepared on AZ91D magnesium alloy in a phosphate electrolyte with and without K 2 TiF 6 , respectively. The morphology, composition and phase structure of the MAO coatings were investigated. Corrosion resistances and photocatalytic properties of the MAO coatings were evaluated using potentiodynamic ...

Microarc oxidation of magnesium alloys: A review
Surface Engineering and Applied Electrochemistry, 2014This review summarizes the experience of using plasma electrolyte methods to improve the properties of magnesium alloys intended for designing components of various devices, medical equipment, etc. The emphasis is placed on the formation of coatings by both the “standard” microarc oxidation (MAO) method and its version using electrolytes containing ...

New sealing treatment of microarc oxidation coating
Surface Engineering, 2014Silanisation treatment was proposed as a new approach for sealing treatment of microarc oxidation (MAO) coating on Mg alloy AZ91D. The morphologies of the Mg alloy surfaces after MAO with or without silanisation sealing treatment were characterised by scanning electron microscopy. The results demonstrated that quite a few structural defects, including

Russian Journal of Non-Ferrous Metals, 2013
The method of microarc oxidation of materials is described and its advantages over the anodization conventionally used to obtain protective coatings on the surface of light aluminum and constructional alloys are shown; the main notions of the mechanism of this process in the understanding of the authors of this article are presented.

Microarc oxidation power supply based on automatically control
2011 3rd International Conference on Advanced Computer Control, 2011An automatically controlled power supply for microarc oxidation (MAO) is introduced in this paper. Electronic voltage regulator and insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) are applied in the power supply. The power supply can output variety of discharge waveform such as constant voltage, voltage pulse, symmetry alternating pulse and asymmetry ...

Dynamic model of single discharge during microarc oxidation
Theoretical Foundations of Chemical Engineering, 2015A dynamic model of microdischarge with a mobile liquid cathode was presented. The possibility of electron autoemission was substantiated. It was suggested that the liquid cathode rate be calculated by the Navier–Stokes equation. A scheme that shows the development of a plasma formation depending on the thickness of the coating was given.

Thickness Evaluation of Ceramic Coatings Formed by Microarc Oxidation
Metallurgist, 2021A thickness distribution model of a coating formed under microarc oxidation of aluminum and its alloys is considered for two extreme cases: a point cathode and a cathode parallel to the sample surface. In the case of the point cathode, the change in the thickness of the formed aluminum coatings was determined. It was experimentally established that the

Microarc Oxidation Coatings on Aluminum Alloy Drill Pipe
Materials Performance, 2017To improve service life, oxide coatings are deposited on the surface of aluminum alloy drill pipe for offshore platforms by microarc oxidation (MAO) technology. This work focused on an experimental study to determine the effect of cathode voltage on the morphology, phase composition, and corrosion performance of MAO coatings.

Structure and properties of coatings in microarc oxidation
Welding International, 2014It is shown that the service properties of coatings in microarc oxidation are strongly influenced by structural factors such as the uniformity of thickness and microhardness of the coating and also the presence of pores. The relationships between the technological parameters of the oxidation process and structural special features and, in the final ...

Characterization of Microarc Oxidation Process on Aluminium Alloy
Chinese Physics Letters, 2003The specific features of electric current variation against time were studied by keeping the anode and cathode pulse voltage to be constant. The maximum thickness of the films fabricated by microarc oxidation was found to be closely related to the voltage.
