Multi‐Omics Analysis Reveals Coordinated Adaptations in Genes, Metabolism, and Gut Microbiota Underpinning Herbivory in Lordiphosa Flies

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Multi‐omics analysis reveals that herbivorous adaptation in Lordiphosa flies arises from coordinated interactions across the genome, transcriptome, and gut microbiota: genomic expansions of detoxification (e.g., cytochrome P450s) and carbohydrate metabolism gene families, transcriptomic upregulation of energy pathways like lipid oxidation and ...

Indole‐3‐Propionic Acid Drives Dendritic H3K27 Acetylation to Enhance CD8+ T Cell Immunity in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
The gut microbiota metabolite indole ‐ 3 ‐ propionic acid(IPA) enhanced the inhibitory effect of SCB on tumor growth in HCC mice. IPA upregulated IL‐12A expression through facilitating acetylation of H3K27 in DCs. IPA elevated IL‐12A expression in DCs to promote CD8+ T cell anti‐tumor immunity and ultimately enhances the efficacy of SCB therapy against

Malaria mosquito antimicrobial defence requires immunity and detoxification gene regulation by Lola

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Malaria mosquito antimicrobial defence requires upregulation of lola. Attenuation of lola in the midgut of Anopheles albimanus mosquitoes inhibits the upregulation of immunity genes induced by challenge. Putative target genes of the Lola transcription factor were revealed by lola attenuation, including Cecropin‐C, Draper, PPAF2, Clip‐domain serine ...

From biology to biotechnology: Host‐regulation factors from parasitoid wasps are a source of bioactive molecules with translational potential

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Parasitoid wasps deploy maternal and embryonic factors to reprogramme host physiology. Venom, calyx fluid, polydnaviruses, teratocytes and larval secretions act in a coordinated, compartmentalised manner. Host‐regulation factors are promising sources of insecticidal, antimicrobial and bioinspired translational molecules.

Innate Immune Activation Is a Strong Suppressor of CCL22 and Impedes Regulatory T Cell–Dendritic Cell Interaction

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
During homeostasis, CCL22 is secreted by dendritic cells (DC), which mediate contacts between regulatory T cells (Treg) and DC to maintain immune balance. Activation of innate immunity via microbes or pattern recognition receptor (PRR) agonists induces the secretion of several soluble factors (e.g., type I and II interferons, IL‐10), which mediate ...

Immunometabolic Modulation by Low‐Dose Sodium Butyrate: PI3K/Akt/mTOR Signalling Orchestrates Macrophage Polarization to Protect Against Clostridioides difficile Colitis

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
Clostridioides difficile toxins TcdA and TcdB enter intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) via specific receptors, disrupt tight‐junction integrity and activate PI3K/Akt/mTOR signalling, promoting inflammasome assembly and IL‐1β release. Toxin‐induced IEC apoptosis further weakens the epithelial barrier.

Stem Cells From Dental Pulp, Periodontal Tissues, and Other Oral Sources: Biological Concepts and Regenerative Potential

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
A graphical abstract recapping the different sources of dental, periodontal, and other oral‐derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and their regenerative mechanisms and potentials. The review's article findings bridge fundamental biological science with translational advances, highlighting the significance of MSCs in craniofacial regenerative ...

An integrated metaproteomics workflow for studying host-microbe dynamics in bronchoalveolar lavage samples applied to cystic fibrosis disease

open access: yesmSystems
Airway microbiota are known to contribute to lung diseases, such as cystic fibrosis (CF), but their contributions to pathogenesis are still unclear. To improve our understanding of host-microbe interactions, we have developed an integrated analytical and

The Role of Oxidative Stress in Periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
Oxidative stress is involved in multiple chemical reactions that take place in different intracellular organelles: mitochondria, rough endoplasmic reticulum, peroxisomes, autophagy, and aging, and can be influenced by exogenous factors: nutrition, physical activity, psychological status, environmental conditions, microbiome, and drugs.

Inflammatory and Immunological Basis of Periodontal Diseases

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The periodontal lesion emerges as an evolving immunological battlefield, where host–microbiome interactions, dysregulated immune responses, fragile resolution mechanisms, and inflammophilic dysbiosis converge to shift the balance from homeostasis to unrestrained tissue destruction.
