Microbial Contamination of Surfaces
1979Adherent bacteria predominate in natural water systems and therefore they quickly colonize submerged surfaces in industrial systems in which this water is used for heat exchange. This population is dependent on dissolved organic and inorganic molecules in the flowing water for its nutrititive requirements and on polysaccharide fibers for its continued ...

Microbial contamination associated with mascara use
Optometry - Journal of the American Optometric Association, 2008Microbial organisms are normally present on human eyelashes. Application of mascara to lashes has the potential to inoculate the mascara tube with microbes. This pilot study of a real-world situation investigated the microbial contamination of 2 brands of mascara used daily for 3 months.Forty women between the ages of 18 and 39 were randomly assigned ...

Microbial contamination of musical wind instruments
International Journal of Environmental Health Research, 2011Retrospective and prospective studies were used to assess the numbers, types and persistence of microbes that contaminate wind instruments. All previously played instruments (n = 20) harbored viable bacteria as well as mold and/or yeast. Reedinstruments consistently carried higher microbial loads than did flutes or trumpets.

Microbial contamination of eye drops.
Central European journal of public health, 2001The microbial contamination of eye drops at the Eye Clinic was studied. In total, 92 eye drop bottles were examined. 43 bottles were opened and used and 49 were unopened and sealed. The contamination rate was found to be 10.2% in unopened bottles and 34.8% in opened bottles. The opened bottles had been used for two weeks.

Microbial Contamination of Creams
1985The quality of pharmaceutical preparations is under considerable threat from a number of factors which may contribute to their deterioration. Not least amongst these is the potential for microbial contamination by bacteria and fungi which, following a period of multiplication, can lead to breakdown of the active ingredient by microbial enzymes or may ...
