Microbial Contamination in Water Systems

PDA Journal of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, 2022
The microbiological impurities are the most critical ones in a water system and are thus of special concern. In case of contamination of a purification unit or a distribution system, the user must react quickly. The authors have written down their experience and explain details about the typical microbiome of a water system.

Microbial Contamination of Toothbrushes

Journal of Dental Research, 1977
Abstract : The degree of bacterial contamination of toothbrushes after contamination and storage in vented containers or in air was studied. The capacity of toothbrush containers to exclude microorganisms of the environment from the toothbrush was also investigated.

Characterization of microbial contaminants in urine

Drug Testing and Analysis, 2010
AbstractModern, molecular microbiological methods were applied to urine samples from control subjects and athletes for characterization of the microbial community. High abundance of lactobacilli, enterococci, and enterobacteria was detected in urine samples, suggesting that gastrointestinal and urogenital tracts act as contamination sources.

Microbial contamination of antiseptics and disinfectants

American Journal of Infection Control, 1996
There have been a number of reports on microbial contamination of antiseptics and disinfectants. At present, however, the necessity of measures to prevent contamination do not seem to be fully appreciated. We investigated microbial contamination of antiseptics and disinfectants that are used in our hospital.Fifty-one samples of benzalkonium chloride ...

Microbial contamination of radionuclide generators

European Journal of Nuclear Medicine, 1977
Technetium-99m generators were grossly contaminted using 5 different strains of microorganisms. Elution of the generators showed that the number of microorganisms was reduced by a factor of 10(4)-10(6). There were no indications that the generators would support bacterial growth. It is concluded that it would be acceptable from a microbiologic point of

Microbial contamination of weaning foods

The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 1996
A survey was conducted to determine the prevalence rate of Escherichia coli in different foods being fed to children in the weaning age group. The samples were collected from middle income group (MIG) and high income group (HIG) houses in different localities in Chandigarh.

The index of microbial air contamination

Journal of Hospital Infection, 2000
The standard index of microbial air contamination (IMA) for the measurement of microbial air contamination in environments at risk is described. The method quantifies the microbial flow directly related to the contamination of surfaces coming from microbes that reach critical points by falling on to them.

Microbial Contamination of Continuous Drip Feedings

Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, 1987
We evaluated the extent and effects of bacterial contamination of an open continuous enteral feeding system. Eighty‐two quantitative enteral feeding cultures and clinical data were obtained during 8 days of observation on each of 33 patients. Cultures of appropriate sites were obtained on febrile patients and compared to the enteral feeding culture ...
