Microbial identification and antibiotic sensitivity testing, an aid for patients refractory to periodontal therapy

Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 1994
Abstract The importance of microbial surveillance is illustrated in 3 clinical cases. Each case demonstrated a continued lack of response to conventional periodontal treatment. Repeated bouts of periodontal abscess formation and bone Joss occurred over a 3‐ to 4‐ year period, despite numerous surgeries supplemented with antibiotics.

Is the routine practice of antibiotic prescription and microbial culture and antibiotic sensitivity testing justified in primary maxillofacial space infection patients? A prospective, randomized clinical study

Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery, 2018
The purpose of this prospective, randomized, comparative clinical study was to compare treatment outcome of removal of foci and incision and drainage, with or without oral antibiotic therapy, in the management of single primary maxillofacial space infection with a known focus.A total of 40 patients with single primary maxillofacial space infection with

Assembly of Standardized Test Specimen for Microbial Quantification of Plasma Sterilization Processes of Fine PTFE Tubes as Used in Thermo Sensitive Medical Devices Like Flexible Endoscopes

Plasma Processes and Polymers, 2011
AbstractFine PTFE tubes are used in high‐end and high cost devices like flexible Endoscopes where no standard sterilization procedure like autoclaving applies due to material properties. The study of innovative decontamination processes like plasma sterilization request appropriate analysis methods in order to verify the process functionality.

Effects of the novel mitochondrial targeted compound phosundoxin against Sporothrix globosa : Microbial sensitivity test combined with transcriptomics and proteomics

Medical Mycology
Abstract In recent years, the resistance of Sporothrix globosa to antifungal treatments has steadily increased, while the cure rate for sporotrichosis has declined. This growing resistance underscores the urgent need to develop novel antifungal agents with distinct mechanisms of action.

[Accelerated determination of microbial sensitivity to antibiotics and chemotherapeutic preparations by serial dilutions using the peroxidase test].

Antibiotiki, 1980
A rapid method for determination of microbial sensitivity to antibiotics and chemotherapeutic drugs with the use of the peroxidase test is described. The procedure takes 6 hours. Peroxidase is determined by a change in the color of the methyl-para-amino phenol sulfate solution added to the broth culture in 6 hours (simultaneously with hydrogen peroxide)

[Establishment and Evaluation of a Resazurin-Based Microdilution Assay for Microbial Sensitivity Test of Neisseria gonorrhoeae].

Sichuan da xue xue bao. Yi xue ban = Journal of Sichuan University. Medical science edition
To establish and evaluate a microbial sensitivity test method for Neisseria gonorrhoeae based on resazurin coloration.Based on the broth microdilution method, resazurin was added as a live bacteria indicator. WHO G, a WHO gonococcal reference strain, was used to optimize the incubation time for resazurin-stained bacteria and the color change was ...
