Anisotropic pitch angle distribution of ~100 keV microburst electrons in the loss cone: measurements from STSAT-1 [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2012
Electron microburst energy spectra in the range of 170 keV to 360 keV have been measured using two solid-state detectors onboard the low-altitude (680 km), polar-orbiting Korean STSAT-1 (Science and Technology SATellite-1).

Real-Time In-Network Microburst Mitigation on Programmable Switch

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Microbursts in the datacenter network (DCN) last for an extremely short time in switches and are difficult to discover from a coarse-grained perspective.

Cooperated Traffic Shaping With Traffic Estimation and Path Reallocation to Mitigate Microbursts in IoT Backhaul Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
An aggregating switch (SW) network offers cost-effective accommodation to Internet-of-Things (IoT) traffic by aggregating the traffic. In such a network, it is crucial to eliminate the discarded traffic caused by the simultaneous transmission of massive ...

Microbursts

open access: yes, 2021
microbursts is a collection of hybrid, lyric essays about the places between life and death; memoir and poetry; making and letting go. Originally written by Reeder as an intense text-based collection of lyric and experimental essays responding to the illnesses and deaths of her parents, it confronts the raw emotions of crisis, grief and creativity ...

Trends in thunderstorm days, lightning activity, squalls and the environmental factors in Hong Kong

open access: yesWeather, EarlyView.
This study analyses trends in Hong Kong's convective weather using long‐term observer‐based and shorter‐term instrument‐based data. Annual thunderstorm days increased significantly by 1.9 days decade−1 in 1947–2024, notably in June–September, consistent with increasingly favourable warm‐season environments for thunderstorms.

Short-duration Electron Precipitation Studied by Test Particle Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2015
Energy spectra of electron microbursts from 170 keV to 340 keV have been measured by the solid-state detectors aboard the low-altitude (680 km) polar-orbiting Korean STSAT-1 (Science and Technology SATellite).

Evaluating the Feasibility of Phased Array Radar‐Derived Quantitative Precipitation Estimation Using the NSSL's Advanced Technology Demonstrator

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Abstract The Weather Surveillance Radar–1988 Dopplers (WSR‐88Ds) are an operational network of S‐band, dual‐polarization radars in the United States. Currently, replacement options are being considered for the next generation of weather radars. One option is dual‐polarization phased array radar (PAR), which employs electronic beam steering to provide ...

Cobalt‐Based Metal Hybrid Encapsulated Micro‐Aluminum for Tailoring Combustion in Composite Solid Propellants

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT To address the issues of aluminum (Al) powder agglomeration during combustion and low oxidizer decomposition efficiency in composite solid propellants, this study utilized in situ self‐assembly technology to prepare cobalt‐based hybrid‐coated modified Al powder (Al@CZ).

Differential effects of vagus nerve stimulation paradigms guide clinical development for Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesBrain Stimulation, 2020
Background: Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) modifies brain rhythms in the locus coeruleus (LC) via the solitary nucleus. Degeneration of the LC in Parkinson’s disease (PD) is an early catalyst of the spreading neurodegenerative process, suggesting that ...
