A tunable microcavity

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2011
We present a generic microcavity platform for cavity experiments on optically active nanostructures, such as quantum dots, nanocrystals, color centers, and carbon nanotubes. The cavity is of the Fabry-Pérot type with a planar back mirror and a miniature concave top mirror with radius of curvature ∼ 100 μm.

On-Chip High-Finesse Fabry-Perot Microcavities for Optical Sensing and Quantum Information

open access: yesSensors, 2017
For applications in sensing and cavity-based quantum computing and metrology, open-access Fabry-Perot cavities—with an air or vacuum gap between a pair of high reflectance mirrors—offer important advantages compared to other types of microcavities.

Deep tissue localization and sensing using optical microcavity probes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Optical microcavities are useful as probes in cells due to their narrow emission spectra and high sensitivity to environment. Here, the authors use the unique spectral features of microcavities, which are unaffected by tissue scattering, and show 3D ...

Ultrafast flow of interacting organic polaritons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The strong-coupling of an excitonic transition with an electromagnetic mode results in composite quasi-particles called exciton-polaritons, which have been shown to combine the best properties of their bare components in semiconductor microcavities ...

Synovial joint cavitation initiates with microcavities in interzone and is coupled to skeletal flexion and elongation in developing mouse embryo limbs

open access: yesBiology Open, 2022
The synovial cavity and its fluid are essential for joint function and lubrication, but their developmental biology remains largely obscure. Here, we analyzed E12.5 to E18.5 mouse embryo hindlimbs and discovered that cavitation initiates around E15.0 ...

Quantum Coherence and Total Phase in Semiconductor Microcavities for Multi-Photon Excitation

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
We examine how the weak excitation regime of a quantum well confined in a semiconductor microcavity (SM) influences the dynamics of quantum coherence and the total phase. We analyze the impact of the physical parameters on different quantumness measures,

Multimode sensing based on optical microcavities

open access: yesFrontiers of Optoelectronics, 2023
Optical microcavities have the ability to confine photons in small mode volumes for long periods of time, greatly enhancing light-matter interactions, and have become one of the research hotspots in international academia.

Microcavity-Integrated Graphene Photodetector

open access: yesNano Letters, 2012
The monolithic integration of novel nanomaterials with mature and established technologies has considerably widened the scope and potential of nanophotonics. For example, the integration of single semiconductor quantum dots into photonic crystals has enabled highly efficient single-photon sources. Recently, there has also been an increasing interest in

Prospects in Broadening the Application of Planar Solution‐Based Distributed Bragg Reflectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, 2023
Distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs) are primarily used in lasers and telecommunications. Liquid film deposition of DBRs holds great promise for expanding their utilization in environmental friendly, low‐cost, and large‐area applications.

Multidimensional Coherent Spectroscopy of a Semiconductor Microcavity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Rephasing and non-rephasing two-dimensional coherent spectra map the anti-crossing associated with normal-mode splitting in a semiconductor microcavity.
