Microcavity biosensing

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2011
A microcavity biosensor monitors optical resonances in micro-and nanostrucrtures for label-free detection of molecules and their interactions. I will give an introduction to the field of microcavity biosensing and present an overview on the current state-of-the art.

Polymer encapsulated microcavity optomechanical magnetometer

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
We demonstrate a magnetometer using polymer encapsulated whispering-gallery-mode microcavity actuated by a micro-magnet. The magnetic field induces force on the micro-magnet causing deformation in the polymer around the microcavity.

Metasurface-stabilized optical microcavities

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
AbstractCavities concentrate light and enhance its interaction with matter. Confining to microscopic volumes is necessary for many applications but space constraints in such cavities limit the design freedom. Here we demonstrate stable optical microcavities by counteracting the phase evolution of the cavity modes using an amorphous Silicon metasurface ...

Chromatic dispersion monitoring of 80-Gb/s OTDM data signal via two-photon absorption in a semiconductor microcavity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this letter, a novel method of chromatic dispersion monitoring via two-photon absorption (TPA) is investigated. A specially designed semiconductor microcavity is employed as a TPA detector for monitoring data signals operating at rates up to 80Gb/s ...

A tunable microcavity

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2011
We present a generic microcavity platform for cavity experiments on optically active nanostructures, such as quantum dots, nanocrystals, color centers, and carbon nanotubes. The cavity is of the Fabry-Pérot type with a planar back mirror and a miniature concave top mirror with radius of curvature ∼ 100 μm.

80-Gb/s OTDM system analysis of a vertical microcavity-based saturable absorber for the enhancement of pulse pedestal suppression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In future high-speed optical time-division-multiplexed (OTDM) systems, an important factor that needs to be considered for optical pulse generation schemes is the impact of pulse pedestals on the overall system performance.

Microcavity Laser Based on Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Doped With Reactive Mesogen

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
We demonstrate an omnidirectional laser from a 3-D Bragg microcavity, which is fabricated from a cholesteric liquid crystal that is doped with reactive mesogen. The wavelength of the laser is found to be determined by the position of the photonic bandgap

Quantum Degeneracy of Microcavity Polaritons [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2006
We investigate experimentally one of the main features of a quantum fluid constituted by exciton polaritons in a semiconductor microcavity, that is quantum degeneracy of a macroscopic fraction of the particles. We show that resonant pumping allows to create a macroscopic population of polaritons in one quantum state.
