Micrococcus violagabriellae Castellani [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1964
Summary: The biochemical and cultural characters of Micrococcus violagabriellae Castellani were examined, and the cultural conditions necessary for pigment production investigated; iron and manganese were essential for pigmentation. Some pigment-containing material was isolated and its simple properties were examined.

Transformation in Micrococcus Lysodeikticus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1969
SUMMARY: Phage N6 lysates of Micrococcus lysodeikticus and Sarcina lutea were very viscous and were found to mediate genetic transfer of an adenine marker (ade+) to adenine-dependent strains of M. lysodeikticus. The transfer activity of these lysates was found to reside in a high molecular weight DNA fraction rather than in the phage particles ...

Reclassification of Micrococcus aloeverae and Micrococcus yunnanensis as later heterotypic synonyms of Micrococcus luteus

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2019
Micrococcus aloeverae,Micrococcus endophyticus, Micrococcus luteus and Micrococcus yunnanensis are phenotypically and genotypically closely related, and together comprise the M. luteus group. In this study, the taxonomic relationships among Micrococcus aloeverae, M. luteus and M. yunnanensis were re-evaluated by using polyphasic approaches.

Micrococcus in the blood [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 1980
Eight isolates of micrococci from the bloodstream of six patients obtained under circumstances suggesting a pathogenic role were studied in detail. The organisms were remarkably uniform in cultural, biochemical and antibiotic-susceptibility characters. All strains showed high resistance to methicillin and hydrolysed arginine.

Native valve infective endocarditis due to Micrococcus luteus in a non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma patient

open access: yesIDCases, 2019
Micrococcus species are typically considered contaminants from skin and mucous membranes. However, especially in severely immunocompromised patients, a blood culture with Micrococcus could be the cause of a significant infection.

Emended descriptions of the genus Micrococcus, Micrococcus luteus (Cohn 1872) and Micrococcus lylae (Kloos et al. 1974). [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2002
Nine yellow-pigmented, spherical bacterial strains isolated from a medieval wall painting (strain D7), from indoor air (strains 3, 6, 7, 13C2, 38, 83 and 118) and from an activated-sludge plant (strain Ballarat) were classified by a polyphasic approach.
