Microcrystals and quasicrystals : how to construct microcrystals with mean perfect quasicrystalline symmetry

open access: yesJournal de Physique I, 1991
It is shown how the construction of “interwinning” elucidates the relationship between quasicrystals and microcrystals in phase transitions as observed in recent experiments. Both the diffraction patterns and the domain geometry are studied simultaneously. The splitting of the diffraction peaks in the phase transition can be calculated.

Generation and modulation of catalytically relevant states of a dye‐decolourizing peroxidase using time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography with drop‐on‐chip mixing and X‐ray‐driven reduction

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 82, Issue 5, Page 434-445, May 2026.
We characterize the formation of a ferryl state of a dye‐decolourizing peroxidase by drop‐on‐chip serial femtosecond crystallography and also the modulation of the heme redox state using dose‐resolved serial synchrotron crystallography.Metalloenzymes containing a heme cofactor catalyse a wide range of oxidative reactions critical to life. Understanding

Microcrystalline Luminescent (Eu1-xLnx)2bdc3·nH2O (Ln = La, Gd, Lu) Antenna MOFs: Effect of Dopant Content on Structure, Particle Morphology, and Luminescent Properties

open access: yesMolecules
In this work, three series of micro-sized heterometallic europium-containing terephthalate MOFs, (Eu1-xLnx)2bdc3·nH2O (Ln = La, Gd, Lu), are synthesized via an ultrasound-assisted method in an aqueous medium.

Damage‐limited resolution for X‐ray and electron microscopy of organic specimens

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 82, Issue 5, Page 471-483, May 2026.
Analytical expressions for the damage‐limited resolution are developed and applied to X‐ray and electron imaging of beam‐sensitive specimens. The findings will guide future microscopy and instrument design.Analytical expressions for the damage‐limited resolution (DLR) are developed and applied to X‐ray and electron imaging of beam‐sensitive specimens ...

Myocardial and Neural Damage due to Pulmonary Vein Isolation: Comparison of Pulsed Electric Field and Thermal Ablation

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, Volume 49, Issue 5, Page 618-625, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) using thermal energy—radiofrequency (RF) or cryoablation (CRYO)—is associated with direct myocardial injury and collateral neural damage. In contrast, pulsed electric field (PEF) energy has emerged as a neural‐sparing alternative.

Mechanosynthesis ZnS : Mn Microcrystals

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2015
It has been investigated the photoluminescence and X-Ray diffraction spectra of ZnS : Mn microcrystals (dimension ~ 25 μm). After mechanical crush (time 10 and 20 min) the physical properties of microcrystals was changed. Dimension of micro crystals decrease up to 10 μm (mechanical crush 10 min) and 5 μm (mechanical crush 20 min); intensity of ...

Microbially Mediated Intracellular Barite Mineralization: Evidence From an Early Ediacaran Microfossil in the Doushantuo Formation of South China

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Abstract Barite serves as a key proxy for reconstructing paleo‐oceanic productivity and chemistry in modern and ancient marine sediments. Although contemporary barite precipitation involves biological mediation, the mechanisms responsible for ancient barite formation remain unclear.

Structural Mechanism of an Efficacy Photoswitch Targeting the β2‐adrenergic Receptor

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 18, 27 April 2026.
Time‐resolved structures from x‐ray free‐electron laser measurements combined with cellular assays demonstrate how the photoswitchable β‐blocker photoazolol‐1 acts as an efficacy switch of β2‐adrenergic receptor function. Light‐induced ligand repositioning shifts activity from inverse agonism toward neutral antagonism by altering local helical ...

Switchable Photoelectrochemistry in Thin Films of SbSI Microrods

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 10, Issue 7, 15 April 2026.
Thin film electrodes consisting of SbSI microrods demonstrate photoelectrochemical properties that can be tuned by adjusting the film thickness, pH of electrolyte, and O2 concentration. The performance of SbSI electrodes can also be switched by changing the temperature and thus employing the ferroelectric transition.
