Disengaging the Engine: Histone Deacetylases 1 and 2‐Mediated Acetylation of Hexokinase‐2 Regulates Energy Metabolism in Microglia Following Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that HDAC1/2 knockout in microglia alleviates neurological deficits, preserves white matter, and accelerates hematoma clearance after ICH. HDAC1/2 inhibition reduces HK2 acetylation, shifts metabolism from glycolysis to fatty acid oxidation, reduces inflammation, and enhances phagocytosis.

Scalable, Modular Three-Dimensional Silicon Microelectrode Assembly via Electroless Plating

open access: yesMicromachines, 2018
We devised a scalable, modular strategy for microfabricated 3-D neural probe synthesis. We constructed a 3-D probe out of individual 2-D components (arrays of shanks bearing close-packed electrodes) using mechanical self-locking and self-aligning ...

NDST3‐Induced Epigenetic Reprogramming Reverses Neurodegeneration in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NDST3‐mediated epigenetic reprogramming revitalizes neuronal circuits in the substantia nigra and striatum to halt dopaminergic neuron degeneration and restore motor function in Parkinson's disease models. This strategy promotes neuronal maintenance and functional recovery, highlighting NDST3's therapeutic potential in neurodegenerative disorders ...

Electrical Control of the Transduction Channels’ Gating Force in Mechanosensory Hair Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The inner ear's hair cells rely on mechanosensitive ion channels to convert vibrations of their hair‐bundle into electrical signals. We show that varying the electrical potential (U) across the sensory epithelium modulates a key determinant of mechanosensitivity—the gating force (FG)—by modulating the gating swing (d), ranging from the size of the ...

Accelerated Detection of Viral Particles by Combining AC Electric Field Effects and Micro-Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesSensors, 2015
A detection method that combines electric field-assisted virus capture on antibody-decorated surfaces with the “fingerprinting” capabilities of micro-Raman spectroscopy is demonstrated for the case of M13 virus in water.
