Indirect Voltammetry Detection of Non-Electroactive Neurotransmitters Using Glassy Carbon Microelectrodes: The Case of Glutamate

open access: yesC
Glassy carbon (GC) microelectrodes have been successfully used for the detection of electroactive neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin through voltammetry.

Different types of potassium transport linked to carbachol and γ-aminobutyric acid actions in rat sympathetic neurons [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Carbachol and γ-aminobutyric acid depolarize mammalian sympathetic neurons and increase the free extracellular K+-concentration. We have used double-barrelled ion-sensitive microelectrodes to determine changes of the membrane potential and of the free ...

Printed Interconnects for Heterogeneous Systems Integration on Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
Key components (sensors, energy devices, communication devices, computing chips, and interconnects) of flexible hybrid electronic (FHE) system connected via conductive printed metal tracks. The figure in the insets shows out‐of‐plane printed interconnects providing opportunities for lithography‐free formation of VIAs, in‐plane access of UTCs pads, and ...

Nanoporous Microelectrodes for Neural Electrophysiology Recordings in Organotypic Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The highly porous microelectrodes have been designed and printed on culture membranes, allowing to record electrophysiological neural activity for rodent brain slices. To keep the biocompatible nanoporous structure, the microelectrodes and insulative layer are fabricated on the bottom of culture membranes with only small connector pads added on the top.

Human Blood Cell Sensing with Platinum Black Electroplated Impedance Sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
AC impedance sensing is an important method for biological cell analysis in flow cytometry. For micro impedance cell sensors, downsizing electrodes increases the double layer impedance of the metal-electrolyte interface, thus leaves no sensing zone in ...

Mapping of Physiological Signals From Wireless Battery‐Free Implants With Plane‐Wave Ultrasound Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Combined approach of electromagnetic (Power) and ultrasound (data harvesting) waves is proposed to address the miniaturized ultrasonic implants. Electromagnetic waves trigger the piezoelectric element to generate the acoustic pulse which is modulated by the variations in the sensor's impedance.

Glass pipette-carbon fiber microelectrodes for evoked potential recordings

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1997
Current methods for recording field potentials with tungsten electrodes make it virtually impossible to use the same recording electrode also as a lesioning electrode, for example for histological confirmation of the recorded site, because the lesioning ...

Self-Organized Nanostructure Modified Microelectrode for Sensitive Electrochemical Glutamate Detection in Stem Cells-Derived Brain Organoids

open access: yesBiosensors, 2018
Neurons release neurotransmitters such as glutamate to communicate with each other and to coordinate brain functioning. As increased glutamate release is indicative of neuronal maturation and activity, a system that can measure glutamate levels over time
