Esophageal cancer and microelements.

Journal of the American College of Nutrition, 1989
Epidemiological studies have identified dietary zinc deficiency, methylbenzylnitrosamine, and ethanol as factors strongly associated with an increased incidence of esophageal carcinoma in man. In addition, these studies have identified other trace elements which may also affect the incidence of esophageal carcinoma.

Distribution of microelements in goats

Russian Agricultural Sciences, 2014
Information is given on the microelement composition of milk, wool, and skin of goats and the regularities of mineral metabolism providing the distribution of microelements in them are established. The expediency of using the “milk/wool” distribution coefficient for evaluating the chronic uptake of heavy metals into milk is shown.

Relief optical microelements fabricated with dichromated gelatin

Applied Optics, 1997
Relief microlenses and micromirrors are fabricated in dichromated gelatin layers. Microelements typically have diameters of approximately a few hundred micrometers and have focal distances ranging from 4 to 15 mm.

FRACTIONATION METHOD FOR SOIL MICROELEMENTS

Soil Science, 1985
To evaluate a sequential extraction procedure to separate chemical forms of soil microelements, I fractionated 16 soils, both surface and subsoils. The purpose of the sequential extractions was to solubilize the Mn, Cu, Fe, and Zn in the exchangeable, organic matter, Mn oxide, amorphous Fe oxide, and crystalline Fe oxide fractions.

Microelements in Manganese Nodules

1988
The concentration of microelements in manganese nodules is less than 0.1% and for many of them is as low as 10−4 – 10−7%. All of them are poorly studied, in contrast to macroelements, due to analytical difficulties and lack of economical interest in most of them. However, from a scientific standpoint, all elements of such interesting natural objects as

Metallothioneins and microelements in brain tumours.

Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Sklodowska. Sectio D: Medicina, 2004
Metallothioneins take part in the homeostasis of the ions of the metals which are necessary for the proper metabolism of the organism (zinc, copper), biosynthesis regulation of the zinc containing proteins. They also take part in the detoxication of metals from the tissues.

PATHOMORPHOLOGICAL BASIS OF MICROELEMENT DEFICIENCY

Normal functioning of the body is ensured within a narrow range of concentrations of chemical elements, especially those that belong to the group of essential microelements: Fe, Zn, Cu, Mn, Mo, Co, Cr, Se, I. Both their deficiency and excess lead to metabolic disorders and the occurrence of various diseases.
