Interconnection of islanded DC microgrids
2015 IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference (APPEEC), 2015In this paper, the interconnection of islanded DC microgrids are discussed. The interconnection increases the power supply reliability since a power shortfall in one of the microgrids can be supplied by the others. The islanded DC microgrids are interconnected through a bi-directional DC-DC converter.

SCADA development for an islanded microgrid
2015 IEEE 21st International Symposium for Design and Technology in Electronic Packaging (SIITME), 2015The aim of this paper is to describe a SCADA tool for an intelligent microgrid. This application provides control over a smart microgrid that contains inverters, batteries and generators with power meters. In this system, the energy is generated by solar panels, a geothermal generator, a biomass generator and stored in batteries.

Microgrids Operation in Islanded Mode
2017The smart grid concept is intended to improve power system operation and control. A feasible path to make the system smarter is through microgrids deployment. A microgrid is a small scale-power system with its own power generation units and deferrable loads, and it may work islanded or connected to the main power grid.

Operation control of islanded microgrids
2021Islanded microgrids are small electric power networks that have no connection to a larger grid. They can be found, for example, in remote places, such as, islands or rural areas. Islanded microgrids typically comprise storage, renewable and conventional units as well as local loads.

Power Quality and Hosting Capacity in Islanding Microgrids
2018Electrical power systems have been experiencing significant changes in the latest years. The increasing insertion of energy through renewable sources tends to change the energy matrix, introducing new concepts such as active grids and microgrids. The use of renewable sources is widespread in those grids that can operate connected or islanded.

Droop control for islanded microgrids
2013 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2013This paper contains an explanation of droop control to distribute load changes amongst inverter-sourced generators in an islanded microgrid. As the load within the microgrid changes, the inverter-sourced generators will share this change in load but this paper shows that the change will be arbitrary and droop achieves a regulated change.
