Large‐scale urbanization and the rural‐to‐urban influx in Nepal have increased human–wildlife conflicts, particularly in the Kathmandu Valley. Using DNA metabarcoding and geospatial analysis, we studied the feeding ecology of leopards and leopard cats, finding that leopards rely heavily on domestic animals in human‐dominated areas, whereas leopard cats

The diet of black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis minor) has been the subject of a number of studies in various regions but information for the central bushveld region is sparse. This communication shows a number of woody species utilized by black rhino in this region and identified by means of microhistological faecal analysis. A total of 18 species were

We used an animal observation and modelling framework to test fine‐scale density‐dependent foraging in subarctic caribou.Caribou were more likely to eat shrubs as shrub cover and space use intensity of caribou increased in summer, but less likely to eat lichen. Insects reduced the overall probability of eating.

Habitat parameters influencing the distribution of a geographically isolated flying squirrel
The southern extent of Humboldt's Flying Squirrel (Glaucomys oregonensis) exists in the San Bernardino and San Jacinto mountains of southern California, USA. These two populations are isolated from the continuous northern range by 245 kilometers of Mojave Desert.

The Seasonal Diet Selection and Nutritional Niche of Mule Deer in a Chihuahuan Semi-Desert
Ruminant herbivores interact dynamically with their food resources, especially in deserts, where plant availability fluctuates sharply across seasons. We evaluated how seasonal food availability and the nutritional traits of preferred plants shape the ...

Resource partitioning in a novel herbivore assemblage in South America
DNA metabarcoding was used to reveal differences in herbivory strategy among large herbivores at an Argentinian rewilding site. Based on diet composition, we find little evidence for resource competition between species. Instead, recently reintroduced native species and historically introduced non‐natives are likely expanding the range of herbivory ...

Factors Affecting White-Tailed Deer-Browsing Rates on Early Growth Stages of Soybean Crops
White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginanus) damage to soybean crops is a concern for soybean producers. Although researchers have documented decreases in the intensity of deer-browse on soybean plants as the growing season progresses, an understanding of ...
