Genetic transformation of Drosophila willistoni using piggyBac transposon and GFP

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2007
Studies were carried out on the use of piggyBac transposable element as vector and the green fluorescent protein (EGFP) from the jellyfish, Aquorea victoria, as a genetic marker for the transformation of Drosophila willistoni. Preblastoderm embryos of D.

Unmasking of latent synaptic connections in the cortex of the rat, elicited by a facial nerve transection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Peripheral nerve injury elicits plastic changes in the cortex, resulting in reorganization of the somatotopic representation maps. These processes begin within minutes after nerve injury, and last for weeks.

Establishment and evaluation of a novel rat model of the fourth ventricle hemorrhage

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
In this study, a novel rat model of fourth ventricle hemorrhage was established via autologous blood injection through the foramen of Magendie. Anesthetized rats were positioned in a stereotaxic apparatus with their heads tilted downward at an angle of approximately 20° relative to the vertical axis.

Development of a Microforce Sensor and Its Array Platform for Robotic Cell Microinjection Force Measurement

open access: yesSensors, 2016
Robot-assisted cell microinjection, which is precise and can enable a high throughput, is attracting interest from researchers. Conventional probe-type cell microforce sensors have some real-time injection force measurement limitations, which prevent ...

Activation of 5-HT 2A Receptor Disrupts Rat Maternal Behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Serotonin 5-HT2A receptor is widely distributed in the central nervous system and plays an important role in sensorimotor function, emotion regulation, motivation, executive control, learning and memory. We investigated its role in rat maternal behavior,

Comparative analysis of two newly established Cre rat lines, NeuN‐Cre and Thy1‐Cre, for neurological research

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
We generated two neuron‐specific Cre rat lines, Thy1‐Cre and NeuN‐Cre, using CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated targeted insertion. Both lines were validated for high neural specificity by crossing them with a Cre reporter rat. When bred with an ND1 conditional knockout rat, the two Cre lines produced distinct phenotypic outcomes. These rat lines have been deposited

Metabolic fate of drugs of abuse and new psychoactive substances: A pilot study on a novel workflow using a zebrafish embryo model combined with human microdosing

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aim The aim of this study was to develop a novel workflow to identify human urine biomarkers for drugs of abuse and new psychoactive substances. Metabolites of amphetamine, cocaine, LSD, MDMA, methamphetamine, THC, MDMB‐CHMICA, and MDPPP were first identified in a zebrafish embryo (ZE) metabolism study followed by comparison to most abundant human ...
