Unraveling the functional dynamics of Caenorhabditis elegans stress‐responsive omega class GST‐44

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 292, Issue 17, Page 4675-4693, September 2025.
Omega‐class glutathione S‐transferases (GSTs) are integral to redox regulation and cellular stress responses. This study characterized GST‐44 in Caenorhabditis elegans, revealing its predominant expression in the intestine and excretory H‐cell, with significant upregulation under various stress conditions.

Splanchnic and Pelvic Spinal Afferent Pathways Relay Sensory Information From the Mouse Colorectum Into Distinct Brainstem Circuits

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 169, Issue 9, September 2025.
This study used transneuronal viral tracer to identify the spinal cord and brainstem circuits connected to the colorectum in the mouse (A). To establish if the regions of the brainstem labelled from the colon were functionally relevant to colorectal sensory‐motor processing, the distribution of neurons activated by distending the colon was mapped (B ...

The Neuropathology of Alcohol Use Disorder: Cellular Insights From Human Post‐Mortem Studies

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 169, Issue 9, September 2025.
Major cellular changes in alcohol use disorder human post‐mortem brain. Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a complex neurological disorder that undergoes neural changes, mainly degeneration and or cellular alterations impacting addiction behaviours. Key brain regions implicated in AUD are the cortex, striatum, corpus callosum, hippocampus, hypothalamus ...

Morphology effect of a novel biocompatible nucleic acid delivery nanosystem of g‐C3N4@dsRNA for application in plant gene expression and plant virus disease protection

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 9, Page 3949-3966, September 2025.
Summary Delivery of exogenous nucleic acid to intact plants is a desirable but challenging technology due to the dominant transport barrier posed by the plant cell wall. Here, we found that three different morphologies of g‐C3N4 nanomaterials synthesized from urea can assist in the delivery of exogenous nucleic acids into mature leaf cells of Nicotiana

Beyond the Binary: Controlling Natural Sex‐Change in Hermaphroditic Fishes

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 17, Issue 4, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Sex‐change in hermaphroditic fishes is a complex but natural biological phenomenon that has significant implications for aquaculture fingerling production, selective breeding, and grow‐out. Understanding the physiological, endocrinological, and molecular pathways underlying hermaphroditism in fishes offers unique opportunities to manipulate ...
